PLOT SYNOPSIS
It is not easy being fat especially for Macky (Sam Milby) who is in love with a young socialite columnist named Niña (Kristine Hermosa). He has been her constant secret admirer, surprising Niña every time with cakes and flowers. Everything is going well until Niña meets Macky, who gets the shock of her life when she sees Macky in his 300-pound glory. Then comes Aira (Toni Gonzaga), the ever-vibrant fitness instructor who knows how to motivate her clients well. In the process of losing weight, the two gained love and affection for each other.

Two years pass and Macky is now one of the most sought after bachelors in town. Unfortunately, his heart is now owned by his ultimate fantasy - Niña. But an untimely encounter with Aira reminds Macky of his happy old days. Macky now has to choose who really is his big love - is it the woman he dreamt of all his life or is it the woman who loved him unconditionally?

PLOT CRITIQUE
MY BIG LOVE offers the audience an intelligently written script, fine acting, and a fun time. The story develops exactly as you would expect it even though there are few plot surprises which allows the characters to show off their full range of superb acting talent.

Macky is an obese chef who has fallen head over heels in love for Nina. They have been chatting online for months now, but they have never met in person. When they finally go out on a date, Nina is turned off by Macky's weight. Nina's personal trainer Aira notices Macky, and helps him get on a program to lose some weight. As she works with him, the two form a close bond. Aira has to leave for Japan, however, and the two are torn apart. Years later, Macky has lost the weight, and is now happily dating Nina. When he runs into Aira again, he is forced to make the difficult choice between the woman of his dreams, and the woman who loved him all along.

Much will be said about the "fat suit' prosthetics in this film. The Filipino film industry has not done much in the realm of prosthetics, but this film is dead proof that we are no slouches when it comes to making somebody look fat. The transformation of Milby is pretty remarkable, and one hopes the will make more use out of the talents behind the fat suit.

The film's director Jade Castro is earning a positive reputation for himself with MY BIG LOVE. Director Castor has a special talent for finding the little things in the movie frame that make a moment complete. Although there are a couple of goofy sequences in t MY BIG LOVE that kind of feel out of place, but otherwise, this film is solidly made.

SAM MILBY and TONI GONZAGA have the chops. Milby is pretty good in this film. Though his dialogue is often muffled by his accent, he knows how to get the emotion through. TONI GONZAGA has always been somewhat of a joy to watch. She goes pretty broad in this role, but it is in the silent moments that she really reveals her talents. Together, the chemistry between MILBY and GONZAGA is passionately credible. The film's supporting actors do a great job of filling in everything in between the script.

MY BIG LOVE is a GREAT ROMANTIC COMEDY with a SMARTLY WRITTEN SCRIPT, and GREAT ACTING DELIVERED by SAM MILBY, TONI GONZAGA and Kristine Hermosa. MY BIG LOVE easily surpasses prior released MILBY/GONZAGA FILMS titled YOU GOT ME (2007) and YOU ARE THE ONE (2006).

Kudos to these terrific young Filipino actors and actresses for a fun time for all!
