Average user review:| Pretty funny if you are in the mood! |
The cast (Steve Zahn, Jonah Hill, Allen Covert, Peter Dante and other Happy Madison/Broken Lizard regulars) have the comedic chops to make any poorly-written scene funny, but there was obviously a lack of well thought-out material available, and this film plays like a series of thrown-together SNL skits that didn't make the cut. Nevertheless, there are a lot of laughs to be had. You probably never thought you would see a nurse massaging a turkey's neck to release the animal from a man's...part. I recommend downing a few beers (or partaking in whatever activity frees your mind from the hum-drum of the real world) before popping this flick in. Don't expect Schindler's List (or even Caddyshack, for that matter) and you won't be disappointed. 3 stars, but better writing and a little less raunch couldn't have hurt. July 8, 2008
| bad reviews are not surprising, but I'm not sure the movie was aiming very high anyway |
Jonah Hill has a funny accent and doesn't spend too much acting like himself; Zahn has a great moment where he freaks out in frustration; and the voiceovers he does for the "show" are fantastic.
Essentially, don't expect genius, but if you're in a silly mood (and no, this does not mean "if you're high") this should make you laugh enough not to regret the trip to the DVD rental place. July 5, 2008
