This certainly does not rank very high among Happy Madison's productions, but if you are game for raunchy, irreverent and mostly downright juvenile humor, you will probably enjoy this movie.

The cast (Steve Zahn, Jonah Hill, Allen Covert, Peter Dante and other Happy Madison/Broken Lizard regulars) have the comedic chops to make any poorly-written scene funny, but there was obviously a lack of well thought-out material available, and this film plays like a series of thrown-together SNL skits that didn't make the cut. Nevertheless, there are a lot of laughs to be had. You probably never thought you would see a nurse massaging a turkey's neck to release the animal from a man's...part. I recommend downing a few beers (or partaking in whatever activity frees your mind from the hum-drum of the real world) before popping this flick in. Don't expect Schindler's List (or even Caddyshack, for that matter) and you won't be disappointed. 3 stars, but better writing and a little less raunch couldn't have hurt. July 8, 2008

rating: 3 Quotebad reviews are not surprising, but I'm not sure the movie was aiming very high anywayQuote
I had no hope for this film. The trailer had a couple of goofy moments and simply promised a great cast, but considering it came and went in the theater, I didn't expect much. Still, as far as dumb comedies goes, this could be worse. There are a couple of great moments (the best moment: the turkey gag -- oh, that's a pun; the rival wilderness film teams' death scene) worth the price of rental. I'm not sure about some of the other stupid jokes (a guy just named "dick" whom the cast then makes a bunch of jokes about for a full minute and a half).

Jonah Hill has a funny accent and doesn't spend too much acting like himself; Zahn has a great moment where he freaks out in frustration; and the voiceovers he does for the "show" are fantastic.

Essentially, don't expect genius, but if you're in a silly mood (and no, this does not mean "if you're high") this should make you laugh enough not to regret the trip to the DVD rental place. July 5, 2008

This movie shows how hollywood has fallen, its only for people that have only four walls to look at. Not funny, I wish that the cast would have said no, because the cast is great performers, but you can only entertain with what you have. July 4, 2008

Probably the worst movie I have ever seen. Not even funny. Crude jokes and scenes that even a kid in junior high would not find funny. Whoever Directed this movie did the worst job I have ever seen. The acting was terrible. Steve Zahn usually has had some good roles, but this was terrible!! Not much else to stay. Does not even rate one star. June 12, 2008

rating: 1 QuoteThis is NO Grandma's BoyQuote
I went into this movie thinking that there was no way it could go wrong. Great ensemble cast, in a strange, but possibly hilarious premise. I was dead wrong. I know that there are a lot of critics that knock movies like Grandma's Boy for being dumb "stoner" comedies, so thats why I never listen to their opinions; I watch for myself. But in this case, I should have taken their advice. This movie is absolutely HORRIBLE. With the great comedic talents that are in this movie, it absolutely amazes me how it manages to never gain any momentum. The characters are just weird and the plot is absurd, and there is maybe 1 or 2 jokes in the entire movie that actually land. So for all of these people who are telling you that this movie is "just like Grandma's Boy", I have to disagree. That movie was funny. Strange Wilderness is not. June 9, 2008
