About Hollywood Dreams
Set in the city of angels and featuring wonderful performances by David Proval Karen Black Zack Norman Melissa Leo Keaton Simons and Sabrina Jaglom Hollywood Dreams spins the tale of a young girl fresh off the bus from Iowa (The Astonishing Tanna Frederick) who falls in love with a sexy and promising young actor (Justin Kirk) though their relationship threatens to complicate her own obsessive goal of becoming a famous actress the film perfectly captures the delightful and desperate lives of those chasing dreams in Hollywood: one day they are shuffling down a boardwalk with too many suitcases and the next they are lounging in contemporary hillside homes with a view of the city. Though neither state is permanent the more desirable one fuels the dream. The story s extraordinary execution portrays Hollywood as the fantastic and insane place that it is.System Requirements:Running Time: 100 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY/COMING OF AGE UPC: 684682000062 Manufacturer No: RBR002 Product Description

"Hollywood Dreams" is one of the most bizarre films I have ever seen. In Los Angeles, a young girl from Iowa gets off the bus in search of fame and fortune. She soon falls in love with a promising and sexy young actor (Justin Kirk) but this relationship threatens to complicate her goal of being a successful actress. And so we arrive at the "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Los Angeles and Hollywood are places for chasing dreams and many times these dreams come true. We see Hollywood as an insane place and it is captured amazingly well by director, Harry Jaglom.
The star of the film is Tanna Frederick who plays an unstable young woman who has mental limitations. When she is evicted because she cannot pay her rent, she is taken in by two producers who promise her stardom and she is deluded into believing it. They like her are seduced by Hollywood.
Here is an attempt to tell an old story in a new way but it just does not work What kills this film is that it tries too hard to be different. The lead actress gives a really poor performance but it is hard to know if that was intentional or that she is just a poor actress. Everyone else does a good job and Karen Black is excellent.
For a look at Hollywood as it really is, this is a fairly poor excuse.
