I am a fan of Zooey so when I heard that she was making a cd I had to get it. I am glad I did. I am in a place where I am looking for new sounds and it has exceeded my expectations!! September 19, 2008

Ever since hearing Zooey sing in "Elf" I have been hoping she would record a CD. She has a beautiful voice and sings very well. M. Ward has a unique and interesting voice, very enjoyable. Seeing them live in Madison, WI this summer was fun! While M. Ward doesn't play guitar masterfully, his sound complements Zooey quite nicely. Luckily the rhythm guitarist was there to keep him on track. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who appreciates good music, particularly a sound reminiscent of the late sixties and early seventies, both in melody and in the recording style. I was hesitant buying this CD. I'm an admirer of Zoey Deschannel as an actress and have adored her singing in several films, like "Bridge To Terabithia" and of course "Elf." This CD has a very retro vibe to it, which is something I crave. It's like finding a new CD with the feel of yesterday's style. Zoey wrote all but 2 songs on the CD, and her uniqueness unfolds at the turn of every song. The style isn't for everyone, but for those who "get it" will be playing this CD on high rotation over and over and over again in your cars for the next several months. Enjoy! September 15, 2008

I don't mind the arrangements and the music. It is very folksy and warm.

Zooey's voice is beautiful for the most part too, but sooo untrained. I am no music teacher and I am really open to a lot of different music, but the fluctuations in her voice and the frequently erratic rhythm causes me to cringe. I was excited to hear that she was producing an album, but I do not think that singing is her forte. I sincerely hope I am wrong and that she practices enough so that she polishes her voice, which is beautiful, but her vocal immaturity kills me. In fact, the very first song on the cd grates on my nerves.

Listen to the cd, but don't buy it. Wait until she's put out a couple more! September 13, 2008

I enjoy the raw quality of Zooey's voice and songwriting, but the covers are what really shine on this album. September 11, 2008
