I liked both SAW I and II, but III left me not wanting to see any more.

But I'm glad I DID finally see SAW IV. It was MUCH better than III was and surprisingly entertaining as well.

If you can get past the gruesome autopsy at the beginning of the movie, the rest is pure SAW I and II fun, with a good history of how Jigsaw got to be as evil as he is.

Definitely worth a look for you horror fans out there and especially for those of you that DID like the first 2 SAW films. August 15, 2008

After the death of Jigsaw, I guess you can be excused to have a final wrap-up movie with some prequel scenes showing how everything started. And this movie also tries to show how Jigsaw 'inspires' someone to fill his bloody shoes. And this movie does a decent job at wrapping itself around the concept of having 'a new rat' run through a maze of gore in Jigsaw's post-mortem attempt at having his work live on. This is a decent gore movie, and there is an argument for saying it was worth making this flick to bring the Saw chronicles to a close. But, seriously...IT'S ENOUGH ALREADY!!! This film is worth getting, and it is good, but this franchise has outlived its usefulness. I hear they are putting out a Saw 5 in the fall, and even though I have enjoyed the series, I have to say, "You gotta be kidding me!!!" Oh well, back to this movie. The guy who plays the mother's 'backwards hat boyfriend' on The Gilmore Girls is pretty good as the respectable, smart, tough FBI agent in this flick. The premise is good enough that I can be generous about giving this film a 4 star rating. There's plenty of gore. There is even a reasonable attempt at giving a plot in the prequel sequences that explain how Jigsaw began his reign of blood and terror...kind of. This is worth getting if you're a die-hard Saw fan. It's even almost worth getting if you're just a morbid fan of the grotesque and bizarre. It's not the worst Saw movie out there, although I would have enjoyed it more if it had my girl Shawnee Smith in it....but my final word to the makers of Saw is: IT'S ENOUGH ALREADY! Gore movies are cool, but move on....! August 15, 2008

I could always sympathize with John Kramer(jigsaw) on some level because i watched my mother die from cancer. he has easily become my favorite character in the genre. seeing this installment just shows even more, the man was a genius. twisted as he may have been.

this movie focuses on the events in the aftermath of Saw III and Jigsaw's past. We see more of what drove him to the point he was at, and we get to see his first game.

the main storyline is about Detective Riggs trying to find Detective Matthews from Saw II. its now been 6 months since his disappearance. i dont want to give anymore info away, b/c realization is half the fun with this series. ill just say it goes back and forth between Riggs situation and looks into Jigsaw's past.

The overall story is by far the most interesting in my opinion, even if only for the better look into John's past. not that the rest of the movie falls short, this is possibly the most engaging in the series. the traps are very clever, and in a case or two the pons really seem to deserve their fates.

i dont know how they'll keep the series going after this entry. Tobin Bell(Jigsaw) is the face of this series and a future horror icon. excellent movie. January 23, 2008
