| | Truly one of a kind legal suspense drama | |
Ok, so we know that the plot overall and in its intracacies- is superb, the acting sublime, the dark intrigue unprecedented- what else can I a mere fan add?Cinematography !Sunlight , moonlight, daylight, gritty city streets, sleek boardrooms, the palatial beachfront estate, rainlight even - this camera captures every bit of city and country glamour that is available in every shot.If you look for crime suspense TV with bucketloads of elan, this might just become your replacement for repeated godfather viewings.Damages is just too sophisticated for this world.

Damages is a complex tale of lies, deceit, and misdirection that revolves around a hard driving owner of a prestigious law firm, played by Glen Close), a ruthless businessman, (played by Ted Danson), and a myriad of lesser known supporting actors. To say the plot is intricate would grossly understate the matter, but once the viewer reaches the understanding that the main theme is "trust no-one!" It becomes a roller coaster of plot twists that keep right on coming until the closing scene.
October 2, 2008I never thought I would hear that phrase without it referred in seriousness or parody to the X-files. While this is a very short season (13 episodes), each episode is connected. There are no "stand alone" episodes. Everything is connected to the plot's unbelievable finale. The two part narration, 6 months ago and the present is a wonderful storytelling tool which opens up a tiny window into how 6 months ago became now. The writing, the acting are far above typical TV fare. What I really liked was how even the evil characters had a heart to them such as Ted Danson and Glenn Close's characters. What well-rounded and effective people. The thick web of lies and deceit reminded me of Twin Peaks minus the cheerful FBI Agent. There are no cheerful people in this drama. Enjoy! I think the current price is a bit high, though for only 13 episodes.
October 2, 2008 | | DAMAGE-Brilliant law drama and great performances !! | |
when i saw this show damage i said to myself at first i didnt think that this show would have me glue but it did. i was so excited to watch the next episode that i couldnt take my eyes away from this show. i have to say that this was a new york story if you are a nyer than you will love the new york scenes but for the most part watching glenn close in this performance is amazing. she is the star of the show. dont get me wrong there are other great performances like ted danson who gives a chilling performance in this role as well. what i love about this show is the plot twists you never know who was going to get killed in this show if this show did get canceled then that is a disappointment but if you love law drama and want to see brilliant performances especially a well deserved emmy performance by glenn close then check this one out!
October 1, 2008I found this show by accident on FX and became addicted. When it was over, so many people that I knew hadn't heard of it, so I bought the DVD so I could share it before the show starts again in January 2009. If you love a good mystery and love to be left sitting on the edge of your chair, this is the show for you!
