Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav (2007)

Hilarious, except for a couple things...

I have only seen three of these Comedy Central roasts, this one along with those of Pamela Anderson and William Shatner, but the roast of Flavor Flav is far and away the funniest of them all. America's favorite pimp shorter than 5'8", Katt Williams, does an awesome job as the "roastmaster," taking hilarious pot shots at not only Flav but each of the individual roasters themselves.

The performances by Greg Giraldo, Jeff Ross, Ice-T, Carrot Top, and Patton Oswalt stole the show in my opinion, all containing top-notch material. Giraldo, who happens to be the first roaster on stage, is especially noteworthy. I've been a fan of his comedy for a long time, but on this DVD he kills like I have never seen before. Even funnier than his performance on the "Insomniac Tour with Dave Attell, Sean Rouse, and Dane Cook" DVD, and that's really saying something. And Carrot Top's on-stage props? Priceless as usual, especially the bong with mirrors he made for Snoop Dogg.

I have deducted one star for the following reasons:

1) Brigitte Nielsen's performance was downright terrible. I know she's not a comic, but come on now. I would think she come up with something better than that one line about Flav's penis. And could her delivery been any more dry and deadpan than it was during this show? She's not a bad actress, but she really needs to shy away from attempting comedy in the future.

2) Waaaaay too many jokes are made about Lisa Lampanelli's vagina and her, umm, "love" for black men. It was funny the first couple times it was mentioned during the show; after the eighth or ninth, it just got boring.

Other than that, definitely a great show. The bonus materials are also worth checking out, particularly the "Red Carpet Interviews" with some of the roasters and members of the audience.

Why the change in background music?

Overall, really funny. I was upset to find they changed the music to some generic, instrumental pieces instead of actual radio songs. The clearest example being during the Snoop Dogg intro; when he gets to the podium, 'Snoop D.O. Double G' is playing and he moves with it and is following the beat very well. In the DVD version, he is still moving, but looks stupid as the new song has one beat and his movements have a completely different beat.

Other than that, I thought it was a very funny DVD and worth the $14.99 I paid. March 1, 2008

I could watch this over and over again!!!

I swear i think this is one of the funniest comedy roast's i have ever seen in my life!!! All the comedians were dogging so bad on Flavor Flav....especially Jeff Ross and Lisa Lampanelli. I would DEFINATELY recommend this to other viewers. i will be buying this as soon as it comes to DVD on Feb. 12, 2008... December 28, 2007
