Reality Tour Live (2004)

Jessica Simpson, positive role model? She may not know what's inside a Chicken of the Sea can, but Reality Tour Live, her first concert DVD, shows that the singer, who's known for celebrity tabloid headlines and as the co-star (with husband Nick Lachey) of a show (Newlyweds) said to establish a new standard for dumb blondes, is not so dumb after all. In fact, Simpson reveals herself to be a more-than-capable entertainer, treating her droves of young, mostly female fans to a show that might best be described as wholesome, in a sexy but never raunchy kinda way. She may play on her image as a pratfall-prone dizt (especially in an opening Spinal Tap moment which finds her unable to locate the stage at Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheater), but the girl can sing--and without the melismatic excess displayed by most of her pop tart peers. Along with delivering the hits (including the single "Angels," with a video that's part of this DVD package, and her remake of Berlin's "Take My Breath Away"), Simpson chats close-up with some fans, gives lots of love to her family, and dispenses homilies of the "success comes from within" variety; pretty standard stuff, but it seems earnest enough, and the crowd adores her. Her pop-soul croonings are no threat to Aretha Franklin, but if she can develop a distinctive musical style, find a few better songs, and eliminate some of her vocal affectations, Jessica Simpson could become a talent to be reckoned with. --Sam Graham Amazon.com

the worst ive seen jess

i love jessica simpson but this dvd is the worse ive ever seen do not buy this one all she does is twirl around and shake her but its not entertaining after the first 10 mins August 19, 2008

Great DVD if you like to see how Jess interacts w/fans.

Jessica seems to be real nice, down to earth person who loves her fans. Not many artists talk to their fans, let them ask questions, and get personal with them. Very rare you get to see this. I would have loved to be front stage at her performance!

Her singing wasn't top notch like you'd hear in her CDs but you have to consider the fact that her CDs capture Jessica's best singing. If you're on tour a lot, your vocal cords do get worn out so forgive her.

The wardrobes she wore were kind of goofy looking, but this is Jessica Simpson we're talking about. She's notorious for being a goofy person. June 11, 2008

BREAKING NEWS!!! THIS IS BORING...

JS CONCERT WAS THE MOST BORING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN ON DVD! MY CAT WAS MORE INTERESTED IN WATCHING IT THEN I WAS, AND THAT WAS ONLY BECAUSE OF JESSICA'S FRILLY COSTUMES! THE SOUND SYSTEM STANK! I WAS EXPECTING HER VOICE TO ECHO LIKE CRAZY. ALL OF JESSICA'S SONGS WERE ABOUT EXPRESSING HER LOVE FOR NICK. THIS DVD IS SO BORING I'M FALLING ASLEEP JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO SAY ABOUT IT. OH YEAH...HER VOCALS WERE TOO BREATHY, THAT PINK THING SHE WORE LOOKED LIKE A FLAMINGO CAUGHT IN A SHREDDER, AND SHE SHOULD HAVE LEFT TAKE MY BREATH AWAY ALONE! NICK DIDN'T TAKE HER BREATH AWAY SHE TOOK HIS WHEN SHE DECIDED TO WALK OUT OF THEIR MARRIAGE! NICK WILL BE SINIGING I'M TAKING HALF AWAY!, AND JESSICA WILL BE SINGING I SHOULD HAVE PRENUP! Disappointed

I bought this DVD after watching Jessica Simpson's latest music video "These boots are made for walkin'". I thought her Reality Tour Live will have some catchy songs and video but was very disappointed. May be OK for those who just want to watch Jessica sing. August 4, 2005
