Dynamite.
'Stardust,' though unconventional it may be, will probably reduce you to fits of uncontrollable giggles, all the while charming, chilling and chuckling it's way to classically porportional success, both as a fantasy adventure and a laugh out loud comedy.
Charlie Cox plays Tristan, a young lover determined to retrieve a fallen star in return for his sweetheart's hand in marriage. But in order to get it, he will encounter princes fighting for the throne, a witch determined to beat him to the star and a gay pirate (Robert De Niro...huh?)
Just sit back and watch it shine! June 28, 2008
A Wonderful 'Stand Alone' Fariytale Movie
at least as good as the book
It's seldom that I think a movie is better than the book it's based on, and that's not really the case here, either, but I did enjoy the movie slightly more. The book is a wonderful fairy tale, but the movie is a vivid rendition of it. It's how I pictured the book as I read it, only brighter, shinier, more alive.
I know I'm not making sense, but it's just a gorgeous fantasy movie, and one that's not dumbed down for the preschool set--you really don't see movies like this very often. I absolutely loved it. June 26, 2008
An overlooked fantasy gem.
I came away impressed and I've watched it quite a few time since.
The movie is beautiful, the fx are done very well without being overpowering.
The story is good without falling into the "too cute" or "corny" categories.
The acting it all top notch.
Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeifer are fantastic.
Overall, I'd recommend this movie to just about anyone.
It's cute, it's fun, it's a great way to kill an evening.
Recommended.
