rating: 5 QuoteThe beautiful Ms. D'Angelo in an excellent made-for-tv movieQuote
This I believe originally aired on Lifetime in 1996, and I was pleased to find it on here under the Direct Source Label which has been very successful releasing many TV movies onto DVD at a great price. I have always loved Beverly D'Angelo which many people may remember from the "Vacation" movies as Chevy Chase's wife or as Patsy Cline in Coal Miner's Daughter starring Sissy Spacek. Beverly deserves so much better than some of the silly comedies she has done. As a dramatic actress, one can see the range in her acting, and there are some really good scenes in this film. Beverly plays a divorced pastry chef named Jess operating her own business, raising a teenager daughter and dating a younger man named Billy who one night crosses the line with his soon to be stepdaughter. Once Jess finds out the truth is when she begins to question herself as a mother and the guilt she feels for allowing something like this to happen. Jenny Lewis did a great job as Jess's daughter Jade and her scenes with Beverly are very strong and powerful when she's trying to tell her the truth about what happened. Beverly shines when she confronts her young lover in the kitchen about the incident, the scene when they are meeting with a lawyer and Jade decides she wants to go live with her father and also the last scene on the beach when Jade's father comes to pick her up and Jess is left alone to reflect. Another great TV movie with Ms. D'Angelo was A Child Lost Forever: The Jerry Sherwood story which is only available on Region 2 DVD. February 6, 2008
