Not as good as the original
Here we meet a wide assortment of characters living in a large urban apartment building. A movie on television tells the familiar tale of the demons, and to the resident's surprise, the creatures come right out of the television screen and wreak havoc inside the seemingly impenetrable apartment building.
Once again, that's about as far as it goes plotwise with the remainder being an hour long montage of chase/death scenes. The cast here is WAY too large for us to actually get acquainted with any of the characters, the net result being that we simply don't care what's happening to anybody. Watching the inhabitants trying to escape from this fortress-like apartment building is just absymal, way too ridiculous to ignore. (How many apartments are equipped with bullet proof windows on every floor? What type of garage door withstands cars plowing into it and axes striking it?). There's also a scene where a woman goes into labor and this fast paced heavy metal thrash music fades in for some reason, that part really had me laughing out loud with its idiocy. Demons 2 is another mindless, and I mean mindless, flick pitting humans against the zombie-like demons. There are good gore scenes a plenty, but it really just grows tiresome, I was praying for this to be over halfway through. If you are a hardcore fan of the first, you'll like this one just as much. Otherwise I'd say steer clear of this one. May 13, 2008
A huge letdown
Very good sequel to a horror classic.
A worthy sequel to Lamberto Bava's 1985 gorehound shocker "Demons" is also directed by Bava and produced by the legendary Dario Argento. The make-up effects especially the little shreiking demon that comes out of a possessed boy are well done and the music score by Simon Boswell is enjoyable, it's nowhere as good as the original cult favorite but still delivers some shocking effects and of course the debut of Dario's daughter Asia in her first movie role.
This DVD contains great picture and sound with the uncut uncensored version with audio commentary and Trailers to this and other Anchor Bay/Starz releases. February 4, 2008
