Norbit (2007)

Considering I don't normally like comedy, this movie was really funny!

I'm not much of a comedy gal, but my husband is so I picked this movie up to watch one evening and I couldn't stop laughing.

The real beauty in this movie was that the casting was spot on. Every actor played their part in an exceptional manner, and of course the three characters that Eddie Murphy plays were all so different, authentic, and funny.

Eddie Murphy plays Norbit, a shy, polite, orphan with a heart of gold. He also plays his wife (Rasputia), a domineering, opinionated, 400 lb black woman, as well as an elderly Chinese man who raised him.

There are so many funny and brilliant scenes in this movie, and I knew within the first 10 minutes of watching this movie that I was going to love it.

I liked this movie more than the Nutty Professor, although I don't expect it will be as well remembered. I would not say this movie is appropriate for children, but young adults and older should enjoy this. July 4, 2008

Eddie Murphy at his best. Either you will love this movie or you will hate it.
In my opinion, Eddie Murphy shows a display of his full potential when it comes to cleverness and versatility by (once again) impersonating diverse and completely unrelated characters, a talent and ability tried by many actors, achieved by a select few, but non like Eddie Murphy; pure genius.
Norbit is the guy to whom everything wrong happens to. The story has been done before; the weak, hopeless guy who finally stands up for himself and gets the pretty girl in the end, but the ingenuity behind it all, will have you thinking about it and talking about it for quite some time after you watch it, asking yourself "how did he do that?"
If you liked "The Nutty Professor" movies, you will definitely appreciate Norbit. Besides, Eddie Griffin's contribution is also a huge plus. May 14, 2008

Just another black movie with typical black humor and 'comedy'. I walked out of the movie, huge waste of money, unless your sense of humor is that of a hermit. May 13, 2008

disappointed

i love eddie murphy but this dvd definitely wasn't what i expected.i was disatisfied from the start.first of all no one should ever call any baby ugly,for seconds,a man could be sensitive without being a complete wuss,
and third ,i felt that plus size women were made to look like domineering trash with bad taste in clothes.just because you are a plus size woman doesn't mean you can't be classy.ps not all of us are bullies either... May 12, 2008
