This is the 3-disc (or rather 3-episode) set where we see the end of Tom Baker and regenerate into Peter Davidson! This is the way the BBC should package all the "old" Doctor Who material! And let's not forget the Master, and Gallifrey! If you're a Doctor Who fan (I never cared for the term Whovian), you already know this! If you're buying this set for a fan (and they don't have this set yet), this is definitely the set to buy! Enjoy! Long Live The Doctor! July 1, 2008

HERE THERE BE SPOILERS:

Well, time's up for Tom Baker, who rocked my face off as super-groovy fourth Doctor. But in comes Peter Davison, who overcame my natural suspicion of any new incarnation with an incredibly sweet smile and a few well-placed puns. Hooray!

Plot wise, the Keeper of Traken was probably my favorite story, gripping, interesting, and with a certain sense of sorrow for the ultra-hippy Traken natives who get menaced by a mysterious...er...menace. Logopolis introduced Tegan, who, sadly, is not the best companion in the world, and I found her so irritating that it was hard to concentrate on the story. But Four's end is gut-wrenching, and the advent of Five suitably dramatic. Castrovalva was alright, though rather a lot of it was taken up watching Nyssa and Tegan trek through a forest while wearing improbable clothing. The bright points in that episode came courtesy of Davison, who really deserved better scripts than he got.

On the whole, this is a good buy, and a must-see for Who fans, as it shows us the end of an era, and the beginning of another. May 21, 2008

I was introduced to Dr. Who at a SciFi convention very late into the series. Perhaps I had seen a bit here or there before, but I wasn't interested. In fact I didn't get interested until the woman in my life at the time watched it regularly. Once you get into it, it is like eating the single potatoe chip or french frie. Next to impossible. Over the years I have seen the vast majority of the episodes. I myself prefer the color episodes. Not just because the color is better, the sets are better, the special effects are better, but because I thought the men playing the doctors were better actors and had more fun with the part. I saw some true creativity that made me watch even when the make-up and costumes were laughable.

This three DVD set is a nice combination of the end of Tom Baker as Doctor Who and the beginning of Peter Davison's stint. Both were two of the best doctors in the series, and these episodes were some of the better ones. Both actors went on to make other movies and series. I myself enjoyed Baker in his other movies and Davison as "Campion". But I will say I am partial to these two doctors. I think Baker, Davison, and Pertwee were the most entertaining of all the doctors. Since many of the series episodes are being sold singly for over $18 each, this set of three is very reasonable. So if you enjoy Doctor Who this is a must and if you are new to the series this is a great introduction at a good price. Good quality DVD with extras and excellent replayability. January 15, 2008

This collection is great for two reason! If you bought it idividually it would cost you three times the amount! The low prize is a steal!

About the series! This is a excellent Doctor Who transistion to a New Era! I was never crazy about Peter Davidson's Doctor but it was a great move to create a new era! Tom Baker wraps it up nicely! Peter's Doctor's line "I starting too feel like my own self...well, well what ever I feel like it's absolutely spendid!" was a great kickoff to the series:)

It helps that I am a big fan of the longest running sci-fi series in history!
