rating: 5 QuoteA great British ComedyQuote
Tom Ballard (played by Graham Crowden) has been shuffled off to a Bayview Retirement Village, a smart, but ultimately cold retirement community. But, there is one person who seems to make it all worth while - Diana Trent (Stephanie Cole). Diana is tough and cynical, and determined to let nothing and no one in. But, she never counted on the fun-loving daydreamer Tom.

Overall, I must say that this is a great British Comedy, the best one I have seen in a while! It has lots of kookiness and irreverent humor, with Sandra Payne stealing the show as the queen of the crabby old ladies. If you like a good Britcom (no, I mean great Britcom!), then get this DVD, you won't regret it.

By the way, this DVD contains the following ten(!) episodes:
Counselling for the Dying (Season 2, Episode 1, 5 September 1991) - Death is a part of life around Bayview, so Tom decides to step up and provide counseling for the dying...but who would turn to Tom for counseling?

The Partition (Season 2, Episode 2, 12 September 1991) - Tom decides that it would be nice to move in with Diana, but his invitation only results in Diana building a wall between them. But, when a new woman enters Tom's life, Diana comes to regret her decision.

Daisy Takes Charge (Season 2, Episode 3, 19 September 1991) - Daisy, the new girl, is used to taking command, but can she take command of Diana?

The Thief (Season 2, Episode 4, 26 September 1991) - Some jewelry has gone missing and Tom and Diana decide to get to the bottom of things.

Tell the Truth (Season 2, Episode 5, 3 October 1991) - Tom decides that he will make the world a better place by convincing everyone to tell the whole truth, all the time. To make matters worse, Diana's niece has fallen for a rogue - just what should Diana do?

The Hip Operation (Season 2, Episode 6, 10 October 1991) - Diana needs hip-replacement surgery, but the last thing she wants is to be seen with a walker. She won't attend her niece's wedding looking feeble and old, so she won't attend...unless Tom can get her up and moving.

Glamorous Grannies (Season 2, Episode 7, 17 October 1991) - Harvey has organized a "Glamorous Grannies" contest...oh boy, what will Diana think?

Foreign Workers (Season 2, Episode 8, 24 October 1991) - Harvey has decided to save money by hiring foreign workers, and Tom has found himself a new teacher.

Young People (Season 2, Episode 9, 31 October 1991) - Harvey has a new scheme to remove Diana, by having her found in a compromising position with a young man, but can Harvey EVER out-plot Diana?

The Boring Son (Season 2, Episode 10, 7 November 1991) - Tom's boring son, Geoffrey has left his wife and moved in with Tom...now what can Tom and Diana do to get rid of him? May 21, 2008

Waiting For God is a True Gem among the British or any other TV comedies!! Stephanie Cole is wonderful in her role. I can only imagine what a British retirement home is like, but if it is like this count me in-I want to go! A brash, sometimes rude and sarcastic, sensitive, caring environment is portrayed here. This is a must for fans of TV comedy and in particular British Comedy!! May 2, 2008

This British comedy is no longer shown on PBS where I live and I've really missed watching it! Inasmuch as I live in an Assisted Living home, it is even more entertaining now. There are so many similarities to reality in both plot and personalities. What fun!! May 1, 2008

rating: 5 Quote Absolutely Hilarious! This is the BEST BRIT COM I've Ever SEEN!Quote
I'm a true Brit Com Fan and this is one serious I had never seen! I'm a bit irritated that we can't get the rest of the series, but these ones are well worth getting even if they leave you hanging for a few years until they allow us Americans to own the rest of the series! Great laughs it will have you rolling on the floor! This is a MUST HAVE series! March 21, 2008
