Johnny Slade(john fiore,sopranos) is a struggling lounge singer at the nadir of his so called career. Johnny fortunes suddenly change when his manager Jerry(richard portnow,sopranos), lands him a gig at a hot new club. Little does he know that the club is owned by a high-profile...ah, 'music impressario" calling himself Mr Samantha(vincent curatola,sopranos), now keeping a very,very low profile,especially to the feds. The Dean Martin wannabe soon learns his "Greatest Hits" are more than humble tunes. All kinds of people start to catch johnny's act,paying extra attention to the original lyrics.As his popularity rises, Johnny begins to draw a correlation between the songs that he is asked to perform and the morning newspaper crime reports... Chicks,hi jinks, feds and the mob!Its all here in this smart comedy that features a cast from the Sopranos,The Godfather and Casino. At what price fame? Campy fun

I saw this movie at the Mill Valley Film Festival and the stereotypically highbrow crowd that had packed the theatre howled with laughter throughout. Even those few who have never seen "The Sopranos" praised the right-on-target acting of John Fiore and Vincent Curatola. If you want over-the-top, delicious humor, ask your local video store to order this movie, or just pick it up here. July 12, 2007
