I bought this for my husband since he kept telling me about this really awesome show he used to watch years back. We started watching the series together, and boy do I like the show now too! I am really glad I bought this, and anyone who is interested in Anime should like it too. It is a 7 disc set, and everything came correctly. You should definitely buy this show! May 19, 2008

I know nothing of animated movies... My wife and I like and enjoy our cartoons and over the top action. This had that and more. Good story, deep characters, enjoyable action, and of course oh my gosh I can't believe he just did that...

Anyway we watched it with our kids and while there was a little bit of bloody violence I did not find it excessive. May 11, 2008

This is a great animation that combines battles, traditional anime, some 3d animation. It honors some of the Japanese traditions, and the rice and their farmers are central themes of history. I've heard that a long time ago Japanese were divided in 4 main casts: farmers, samurai (warriors), merchants, and royalty. This story shows the struggles for power among these casts. The end is very emotional; indeed, not a children's storybook.

Disclaimer: I am a huge anime fan and my opinion might be biased :-) April 8, 2008

I've had this box set for a few months and have tried to put my views here
yes it follows the Seven Samurai storyline very well and the background animation was excellent as well as the CGI but the animation for the characters for half the episodes was either sub-par or decent. This is not meant to insult this series but when I first bought it I expected both an excellent anime plus character animation it seemed in some episodes that they were more concerned with the background than the characters drawing. This is a great story if you like samurai action, mecha battles, and sword combat but it sometimes got annoying looking at an episode and thinking a child drew it.The video is wide screen format with 5.1 english audio or 2.0 japanese audio as expected with Funimation they have gotten terrific voice actors for this anime as well as great japanese voice actors for this anime. The price is steep but again if you like samurai action flicks with a dose of sci-fi this series would be for you.
