About Live from Austin, TX

Along with his cohort Townes Van Zandt Guy Clark is one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the Texas troubadour school penning songs full of worldly wisdom and unpretentiously poetic lyricism. The "songwriter's songwriter" is captured live in this 1990 appearance on PBS's AUSTIN CITY LIMITS which has been expanded from its televised half-hour episode to include all 90 minutes of Clark's performance including classic songs like "Texas 1947" "L.A. Freeway" and "Desperados Waiting for a Train."Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: MUSIC DVD/CONCERTS Rating: NR UPC: 607396802821 Manufacturer No: NW8028-9 Product Description

As a long time fan, I find this "ramrod straight" performance a little disconcerting. The other end of the spectrum would be his goofy cameo in "Heartworn Highway", in which he comes off as a doped up clown. I hope the real Guy Clark is somewhere in the middle. (Don't you wish they had video taped "Keepers"?!?!)

I saw him live in Gainesville, and had a chance to talk with him for about 20 minutes between sets. He spoke of his affection for Townes. He asked me if I had a request, and he sang "Immigrant Eyes" as an encore.

This is a very fine concert, don't get me wrong. I just find it strange that, for whatever reason, Guy was on his best behavior that night. August 11, 2008

I love this CD. Some of Clark's best songs, and great ones by other songwriters, with good energy. "To Live Is To Fly" is especially wonderful. Listen to Clark's voice as he sings the words "To live is to fly, both low and high..." November 16, 2007

Lovers of Country, this is a classic Guy Clark Collection not to be missed, great songs from a very talented musician and if you can play a bit of guitar yourself, then a lot of the songs are quite simple to follow.....Great August 4, 2007
