About The Godfather of Green Bay

In the vein of Sideways and Waiting for Guffman, The Godfather of Green Bay is a hilarious fish-out-of water story! Struggling stand-up comedian Joe Keegan faces the audition of a lifetime - a chance to perform on The Tonight Show! But first he must leave the big city and travel to rural Pine Lake, Wisconsin to win over the talent scout and his toughest audience yet. In the quirky style of Waiting for Guffman with a kickin' soundtrack by The BoDeans, this heart-warming crowd-pleaser featuring Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber), Tom Lennon (Reno 911!) and Tony Goldwyn(The Last Samurai) gets big laughs in its portrayal of small-town life and a dream that refuses to die. An all-star cast including: Lauren Holly (Dumb and Dumber) Tony Goldwyn (The Last Samurai) Tom Lennon (Reno 911) Mark Borchardt (American Movie) Pete Schwaba (TV's Comedy Central) Lance Barber (The Comeback)

I'll keep it simple: this film is funny. If you're in the mood for some solid blue collar comedy, you will thoroughly enjoy this film. GODFATHER packed houses all over the Midwest during its theatrical run and was standing-room-only when we screened it at The Midwest Independent Film Festival. The feature went on to win Best Comedy at our 2005 Best of the Midwest Awards. Well-crafted comedies that keep you laughing from start to finish are hard to come by and GODFATHER is one of them. Enjoy!

I was born and lived on the West Bank of Green Bay for 26 years.
Yes, the people and accents are funny, but where is Green Bay?
I like film, it pokes great fun at us, but it does not show you the true beauty of the area. July 16, 2007

That's really the best way I can describe it.

I've seen it twice, and I think it is very entertaining. I personally don't find it gut-busting funny, but I didn't really stop laughing much either. It took me up a little bit, and set the cruise control. In that respect, it didn't really slow down at all.

Because of that, I feel it was very well written, filmed, and directed. An excellent cast of actors that took to their roles flawlessly. I can't say enough good things about the acting/characters.

It's not some extravagant fantasy tale that takes you on a whirlwind. It's a fresh story that is mostly realistic. There are some quirky twists and suspenses that may not leave you on the edge of your seat, but the way things come together is very enjoyable. March 29, 2007

Don't like to badly advertise anything I mean life and art are so subjective however: Paid like 25.oo or so bucks and ouch, not one of my better investments. However not a complete waste if your a fan of standup comedy which I am, you'll like those scenes were protagonist is trying to make impact at the bar/ club. Really great prefromance from Reno 911's officer Dango he steals every scene he's in. Problem is he is "funnier" than the guy were supposed to fall in Love with. In fact I kind of liked everyone better than this guy. In fact I guess I hated this shmuck. Not knowing or caring (Writer, director, producer) who he is, made this movie hard to watch. Do we care if he gets the girl, well I hope he doesn't. Do I care if he makes it to The Tonight show. How? He has no talent. I do enjoy bad movies as well but this has too much formula and schmultz. In real life nothing personal to the afore not mentioned actor. Not many commented on this movie so thought I would. Wait for comedy central viewing. March 14, 2007
