My title says it all, really! IMDB the guys if you like what you see, buy it only for eye-candy appeal - alone! April 12, 2008

This movie aspires to be a current "Lost Boys" but the acting is not on the par of Sutherland and Haim. Although it is watchable I found myself wanting to fast forward through a couple points wanting it to get more interesting. The storyline of Warlocks and Witches with magical powers living around one of the old colonizing areas is not new. There take on it wasn't bad, just not original. The acting was fair but not good or outstanding. So overall if you enjoy this type movie I highly recommend you rent it before dropping any money on it. Good quality DVD with very low replayability. I love movies that have supernatural themes and this one wasn't too bad. What it lacked in overall plot/depth and questionable acting from some of the cast, it made up for with hot, buff guys running around fighting each other. I look forward to seeing Steven Strait in other movies, he defitantely has potential. March 25, 2008

The Story: In 1692, five families in the Ipswich colony of Massachusetts hold a mysterious power that they are forced to hide from society for fear of being executed of witches. To hide themselves, they form a secret Covenant which will help protect their ancestors from being hunted down.
Fast forward to the present day and four teenagers are forced to live in the modern day with these powers, though they can't resist the temptation of using them now and again. Caleb Danvers is coming up to his 18th Birthday and will thus ascend to the next level of this mysterious power, although a mysterious 5th power is seeking to destroy Caleb and take it from him.

The Review: This was a surprisingly entertaining film which, for the teenage movie genre was very unique. The friendship between the four boys, and the development of the relationship between Caleb (Strait) and Sarah (Ramsey) are in my eyes very believable which leads you into caring for these characters on another level. Being of the story behind this movie and the overall format, I felt that the director was trying way too hard to bring up the age rating by adding some random pointless nudity and language in an attempt to have it appeal to an older audience. The scene transition I felt didn't work as well as I'd hoped, some scenes will feature some really cool and memorable moments, e.g. the scene where Caleb is driving and he hits an 18 wheeler head on. This type of scene would have you think this is worthy of a 5 star rating but then the next scene would contain some extremely corny dialogue which will make you want to bury your head in your hands in shame.

Overall this is an entertaining film that you will enjoy if you don't watch it with this expectation that you're getting a 5 star script and 5 star acting. March 1, 2008

For the record, I am a collector of good movies and I own over 2200 movies at this time (all store bought). Hollywood has been putting out a great deal of trashy movies of late, however... The Covenant is spectacular. I first saw it on Starz, I watched it four times before purchasing the movie. Since then, I have watched it eight times. I can't get enough of this movie. I am 51 years old and I recommend this movie for all ages. It was nice to sit down and watch a movie with all new faces. Hollywood needs to look for more scripts like the Covenant. I'm a little tired of the remakes they're putting out. Trust me folks, this movie may not be considered an "A-Lister" movie to Hollywood, but I say it's the best I've seen in a long time and I'd like to see them do a sequel to this one. It's a must see for sure... February 19, 2008
