| | A roller coaster ride that sees you dead! | |
My review is mostly to warn people about this series. Now, I will admit that this was an excellent series. The first 6 volumes were great. But the last one killed what was good about this series. Volume 7 really did render this series worthless. All the people who gave this first volume high praise and followed the Guyver series and loved it. Have very good reasons. Its just the ending. It was horrible. I'm spoiling this for you people for a reason. I want you to know this series isn't worth spending your hard earned cash and keeping it. If you must see it, rent it. Thanks to the very last 3 episodes, this series was the biggest waste of time. I can't think of anything worst. If you like half baked endings with no closure whatsoever then follow this series. I'm not saying to ignore the high rated reviewers and only listen to me. They all followed this series and to me they wrote honest reviews. But I'm sure most of them will eventually feel the way i do and trash the ending to this series. I see this new Guyver series very very cheap in the near future.
November 10, 2007 | | All-New Guyver, It's a good new series
I started collecting this when it first came out in 2006
and love it.I havent't seen the old anime show but hope to some it sometime. For now I will enjoy This one. I have bought the second volume with the collectors box and I am at Volume 6 and am ready
To get the 7 and final volume when it comes out. For those who
are interested this first volume includes Episodes 1-4 and
comes with a full page color art book!!!
September 12, 2007I bought this thinking that it would be a cool retelling of the story with improved artwork.
It's not,it's almost exactly the same, except it's worse! yes with the advancement in television and film since the original series was made they managed to remake this series worse than it was before!
buy the 12 episodes from the 90's much better.
September 6, 2007 | | I'll take crisper animation
At first I was thinking I'll take bloodier scenes over crisp animation anyday. However after watching this completely, I'll say they did a real good job with this one. Fans who watched the original faithfully will right away notice the differences. But I tell you, it doesn't hurt the show one bit in my opinion. There is a whole lot more depth in the story, than just jump in hack and slash, like the original. The character development is a lot better this time around. More importantly the main character is more of a fighter this time and is adapting to the armor a lot better. The animation is a lot better. In the original the monsters were just painful on the eyes, but not this time. I also like the new edition of some monsters and others they made a lot stronger, and gave them a longer life span. If you liked the original, I really dont see how you can dislike this one. If you never seen the guyver ever, I would say start with this. For the simple fact they're actually going to finish this series.
January 11, 2007 | | Fans of the Guyver Will Love This Series
If you love the Guyver, then you have to buy this volume. It only has four episodes, but it also includes special features and a 32 page book that tells a lot about the Guyver universe with pictures as well. The animation is amazing and the story is very interesting. It may not be as bloody as the original Anime series, but it is still worth buying just for the in-depth story alone. The acting is superb, even in English dub, it is incredible acting. I can't wait to have all seven volumes in my DVD collection! Well worth the wait and a must have for sure.
