rating: 3 Fun (for those who don't upchuck easily)
Actor and action-driven entertainment, it's biggest problem is it's only half a movie. Also, it's not for small children or those with queasy stomachs--the fantasy computer-graphics are a bit too realistic (gross!--or cool! depending on the viewer). Regardless, lots of fun--thank you Mr. Depp. April 28, 2008

This movie followed in the same pattern as the first one which I thought was the best of the three. It is very entertaining and the acting is great.

rating: 5 When it comes to pirate moves, this series takes the cake.
If you've seen the first movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, the second movie, "Dead Man's Chest", is a must see. Although some may argue that it's not as good as the first movie, I think it's safe to say that both movies can stand on their own and, thus, are both superb films in their own way.

So what's this movie about? Leaving off from the previous movie, Dead Man's Chest has Will and Elizabeth being arrested for helping Jack. In order to free themselves, Will is sent to find Jack's compass. As always, the cast finds themselves in many different troubling scenarios and we ultimately meet new characters and find out what must be done in order to "save" everyone.

Let's talk about the positives first. In terms of the characters, we have much of the same original characters like Will, Elizabeth, and Jack. Also, as mentioned above, we meet a few new characters including Davy Jones and Bill Turner. The casting director couldn't have picked better actors for each part. From full on pirate vs. pirate battles, to voodoo princesses, to an island full of cannibals, this movie has it all and it will keep you entertained throughout. And talk about funny. It takes a lot to make me laugh out loud but there were quite a few scenes in this movie that had me doing just that.

And now for the negatives. The only real negative thing that I can come up with is that this movie is sort of a set up for Pirates 3. It doesn't have an ending. Rather, it has a to be continued feel.

I highly suggest watching this movie if you were entertained by the first one. In terms of pirate movies, this series takes the cake, that's for sure. Pirates 3, here I come! April 14, 2008
