Should you buy this movie? I don't know if I recommend a purchase, but you could do a lot worse than popping this into you Netflix account. April 4, 2008

I don't particularly like horror movies about witches, I think that everything has already been said and shown about them and, furthermore, directors are more interested in showing the effects of their spells than trying to understand why these creatures have been invented by our collective unconscious. The best and definitive movie about witches is without any doubt Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby because the Polish born director described them as ordinary human beings and, by doing so, managed to create in our hearts a feeling of uneasiness and anxiety much more effective than all what could imagine a special effects specialist.
Well, back to THE WOODS and its school for girls directed by a trio of witches. I can't say I didn't like it but I'll forget this film in a week or so because it's first degree stuff during 90 minutes and that's all. If you are just looking for a saturday night movie, THE WOODS could be a good choice. If you're looking for more, get out of the woods.
A DVD zone slight disappointment. July 7, 2007
