This is a sequel to Anne of Green Gables. It is very good, heart-warming story. Good for the whole family.

This version, while sticking closer to the actual tale, is overacted, making it seem more suitable for the stage than for film. June 7, 2008

I can't believe I bought this thing. The acting is reminiscent of a high school play. The sets are atrocious (think High School), and the actors are unpleasant to look at. Do not waste your money with this version (the Sullivan production is infinitely better). Also, the color is off. There's nothing positive about this dvd, sadly. October 23, 2007

I am a big fan of the Ann of Green Gables books and the Sullivan series that appeared on PBS, which I own on DVD. So, I was thrilled to see another version of the story. This DVD consolidates Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island, so for you Anne fans, it covers the most interesting part of the Anne/Gilbert love story. Unfortunately, although this version is true to the book up to a point, the things that are really changed are the romantic interations between Gilbert and Anne. The ending is very abrupt as well and is way off from the book! Otherwise, I think this is a fine production with great acting, which should be added to collections of Anne-o-philes everywhere. But, for sheer romantic content, I think the Sullivan version is more satisfying! September 12, 2007

When I found that this thirty-year-old BBC mini-series was out on DVD, I couldn't believe it! I had such fond memories of the series all those years ago and never believed I would see be able to see it again. But such is the nature of modern technology, and we are so lucky for it. As another reviewer said, Kim Braden IS Anne - nobody can top her. And the story stays so much closer to the original story. I only wish the first part of the series, "Anne of Green Gables," was available too. Message to the BBC - please find it ... I want to buy it!! June 4, 2007
