About The Blue Butterfly

His mother persuades a renowned entomologist (William Hurt) to take them on a trip to the Costa Rican rain forest to search for the butterfly, leading to an adventure that will transform their lives. And so, their journey begins. A journey of courage, redemption and love. Inspired by a true story, this is a magical film about a courageous young boy and a jaded man who chase a dream, and whose lives are forever changed.

The only way to catch a miracle is to believe in it...

This movie is very touching and will open your heart, mind, and spirit to what it means to be truly alive. This is based on a true story about a young boy dying with terminal cancer whose only wish is to see the extremely rare and beautiful blue butterfly. The only person who can take him though, is a scared and self-centered entomologist who doesn't want to go and is very pessimistic.

After great persistence, the entomologist agrees to take the boy, and what transpires is a spiritual journey for both of them that neither can ever fully explain with words.

rating: 5 QuoteVery Cool Film & An Even Better Story.Quote
Beautiful film shot entirely on location in Costa Rica & for lack of a better word, a really cool story. Don't go into this movie thinking its going to be this extremely sad & tragic film, without offering too much info....the movie is very happy. I bought this because I'm into nature & a William Hurt fan & I made the big mistake of putting off watching it for so long because the premise seemed so sad, almost too sad. I wish that I would have watched it sooner as I've owned it for a couple weeks & how anyone could not like this film is beyond me? November 4, 2007
