rating: 4 QuoteA true bit of indie filmakingQuote
I'm a big lover of indie filmaking and it really ticks me off lately that Hollywood has hijacked the word and applied it to their own multi-million dollar studio productions. George Clooney stars and it's an "indie?" C'mon. Even Trade is a real indie. It's low budget, shot outside of the Hollywood system (in Chicago) and obviously was done with a ton of passion. In spite of its indie limitations, Even Trade is amazingly well shot and the hip-hop sountrack is awesome. I loved the weird mix of the mafia and gangsta film genres, too. It totally works. This flick does what all real indies should do: it takes risks. Some work, some don't but all in all, this is a movie to be watched. May 16, 2006
