I'm not normally given to writing comments, but this album makes me feel the need... so here goes:

In the early 70s my sister and I were traveling from the BC coast to the Alberta/Saskatchewan boarder to visit friends. As we approached Calgary, we heard on a Calgary radio station that Kris was playing a concert in 2 days. We found a phone booth and checked to see if we could get tickets... we could.

We slept in the car and washed up in public washrooms (drying our hair under those hand blowers), since we were short on cash... and waited.

At the concert we were entranced.

As we continued on our journey, no words were necessary. Every so often we'd just look at each other and grin from ear to ear.

That kind of sums up how I have felt about Kris and his music since I first heard him.

To me, he is the ultimate modern-day poet who has the added talent of putting his words to music.

I love his voice. His is the only voice that causes me to pause, whatever I am doing, wherever I hear it... and listen.

Once again he touches my heart and soul.

This masterpiece should be in any serious music lovers collection no matter what genre you love. This is quite simply one of the greatest records produced by anyone, ever. To call this is a masterpiece is as easy as saying the sun came up today and it will touch you on so many levels you can't imagine. This will get in your skin and never leave. If you can find fault with this incredible opus then your heart has stopped beating and you should crawl in the ground cause you've already died!!!! May 12, 2008

SOLID GOLD. This is real songwriting, at it's finest. The man and his guitar mostly. No artist today can tell a story like this man can. You can experience a lifetime in a matter of minutes, and so beautifuly. This album will permanently reside in your car cd changer, next to borderlord and spooky lady.

Although the voice has lost some of the growl, the feelings and symmetry of writing have not diminished one iota. These songs will touch you and make you think. Sad, joyous, controversial. Vintage Kristofferson, to say the least. Kris himself finally seems comfortable in his skin, and a couple of these songs reflect that. It's been a long time coming and he's worked for every minute of it.

An unexpected bonus on this must-have album is the inclusion of THE FINAL ATTRACTION from the SONGWRITER soundtrack. It would be an inspired move on the part of the powers that be to release all of Kris' out-of-print albums as both new and old fans have the very Devil of a time getting their hands on them. Think about it, Killer! October 3, 2007
