| Wonderful chemistry. Witty script |
Part of the reason one can watch this several times is ocasionally the plot is so complex that seeing it once is not enough. Another is that the actors are re-used in the series, as a sort of ensemble cast, so that you are not sure what is going to happen unless you memory is very good--because the same actress who is killed in this episode, might not be in five others. I see this as a virtue. It allows the actors to play a range of characters in a single series so that you feel like you get to know their range and abilities. They become, as it were, a part of your family.
First class entertainment.
Oh, and the Chaykin/Hutton chemistry is as good as any that I've seen on TV or in Film. Sometimes I just laugh out loud at the smirks. April 24, 2008
| THE NERO WOLFE SERIES !!! |
The incomparable Nero Wolfe, and Archie Goodwin, have come to life on the screen !!
I have read the books (and RE read the books) for 30 years. What a magic moment it was, when they were lovingly translated to the screen !
And 'lovingly translated', it is exactly what I mean !! Timothy Hutton made it his business to see that this was so. Each book is accurately, beautifully and sumptuously re-created for film.
The fabulous cast play the characters as if they were BORN TO THE ROLES!!
No expense was spared in creating the atmosphere of the time - Nero's home is exactly as I had pictured it - each room springs to life from the very pages of the books !!
It is with gratitude and great affection, that I thank every person who helped to bring some of my favourite and most cherished books, TO LIFE, ON THE SMALL SCREEN !!!
IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN NERO AND ARCHIE IN ACTION... SEE THEM NOW !!!
