My all time favorite movie!

Years ago I happened to see this movie on TV and was deeply touched by it.
Years later in great happiness I was able to acquire a video.

I watch it when I need a spiritual boost. I think all the actors/actresses did a beautiful job. As stated above in other reviews, it does take a lot of liberties Scripturally for romance sake, but the spiritual overtones in this movie, in my opinion, completely make up for it. Elana Eden is wonderful, as well as all the male actors, and I think I have the story/movie memorized at this point, BUT I believe Peggy Wood captures my attention in many ways. While I don't know much about any of these actors, Peggy Wood plays such a spiritual role that I am hard pressed to think of other movies that match that in any other movie that I have seen in-- what she did for this movie. I so wish that other movies had that quality/level of spirituality. Together Peggy Wood and Elana Eden portray very spiritual women that is much to be admired. Elana Eden plays such a courage woman that her role is much to be admired in this movie. Again, I think it is the best movie that has ever been made.
I am so thankful I have this movie in my life.
It does something deeply for me.

Dramatic movie, but NOT the story of Ruth!

I purchased this movie along with two sets of biblical movies for the benefit of my husband. He said he would be more interested in learning about the Bible if he could visualize it and I thought this would be the perfect way. I realize that any movie will take "artistic liberties" to make the story flow along, however, this was a total remake. The only thing true to the Bible account are the names of the characters. I have been watching all the movies with Bible in hand to make sure to point out the differences between what was actually scriptural and what was not... I finally gave up and we just watched it as an interesting movie. I personally am sorry that I added this one to our collection. July 1, 2008

Timeless story & beautifully done.

This older movie is so well done. The color and actors show what real movies should look like. Timeless my grandkids loved it too. April 28, 2008

Too bad it doesn't follow the scriptures!

I love the story of Ruth, but unfortunately this movie is more like a Hollywood fairytale. They make up a strange story of Ruth's childhood and present her as a child sold for service to pagan god temple. They also create their own story of how Naomi's husband and sons were killed. Where do they come up with this stuff? The movie rarely follows scripture. I was terribly disappointed and would NEVER recommend this movie because it is so far from the truth. If it doesn't follow God's word, there's no reason to watch it.

Beautiful Movie

I thought it's gonna be a melo movie but it turned out to be excellent. I loved watching it. A must see! March 24, 2008
