About The Beatles - Help

SYNOPSIS: In their second feature with director Richard Lester, who oversaw the massive hit A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles again aim for a mix of goofy comedy and sterling pop music. There is slightly more of a plot this time, though it is a patently ridiculous one: a sacred ruby ring comes into Ringo's possession, attracting the unwelcome attention of an exotic religious cult and forcing the boys to go on the run. This chase narrative is thankfully never taken too seriously, serving mainly as an excuse for colorful excursions to international locations from Europe to the Bahamas. The musical numbers include such classic tunes as "Ticket to Ride," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," and, of course, "Help!". DVD SPECIAL FEATURES: Theatrical Trailer / Synopsis / Beatles Profiles. COMPLETE SONG LIST: Help! / You're Gonna Lose That Girl / You've Got to Hide Your Love Away / Ticket to Ride / I Need You / The Night Before / Another Girl. Product Description

This Beatle flick, like "a Hard Days Night" once again shows the Beatles really knew how to entertain!!! The storyline is more than just running away from fans and trying to have time to relax and be themselves like "A Hard Days Night", but it's adventures of saving Ringo from his cursed ring bringing the viewer around to different countries and, as with Hard Days Night, loads of music videos by the "Fab Four" (but as cautioned in my review of Hard Days Night, you might want to have the volume low at first and adjust to your liking for the sound system (British I think) is different than others. It's cranked!!!!!!!!!!)! Simply put...ENJOY (and let's hope for a better release of "Magical Mystery Tour" and a non-bootleg release of "Let it Be")! April 19, 2008

We had an old VHS copy from years back that was taped off the tv, and my kids wanted a DVD version. Being an import, I was afraid that it wouldn't play in our machine, but it played in all of them without a hitch. The picture and sound quality are great, especially compared to out old VHS copy!
I am not going to describe the movie, because I think most people have seen it, and if not, then shame on you! ;-)

I watched this on my brother's monster HD WEGA and I was back to those Saturday afternoons when Help! would come on back to back with Yellow Submarine or maybe a Hard Day's Night. I always thought the Beatles movies pioneered music videos before there were any. I couldn't believe how crisp the film transfer was since I'd already seen other movies made much later that looked like crap on HD. I would love for an affordable American release, of Help! but this one's plenty satisfactory for me. Rave!

After the success of "A Hard Day's Night" on the silver screen, the Fab Four triumphs in both music and laughs in "Help"! A good story line about Ringo's ring and the pursuit by Leo (The Prisoner, Rumpole of the Bailey) McKern and company. There are some great songs including the title track. A great price for a DVD if you are fan of the Beatles! Just enjoy! August 6, 2007
