| john waters-america's prophet |
you look at when pink flamingos and female trouble were filmed and look at our pop culture today, about 30 years or more after these movies were made and i would think that calling waters some sort of prophet is not too outrageous, not that the trashification of our culture is a good thing, but he could clearly see where it was headed.
waters ought to start a TV show,be it "reality tv" or whatever.
it would be scary to see what he envisions for us 30-40 years from today. April 25, 2008

| John Water's Is The Master Of The Filthy |
This John Water's collection is very good. It includes 8 discs. 7 movies and 1 bonus disc.
Pink Flamingos:
My least favorite John Water's film. Although some call it his masterpeice. I think it went too far, In some ways. Such as: Over the top male nudity (The big downside to most Water's movies) and fecal enjoyment. The story revolves around Bab's Johnson (Divine: The Transexual Infamous Actor) owning the title of the filthiest person in the world. When this title is threatened by a couple of fellow "Filthys", Bab's and company rage all out revenge. With some funny moments and others that you will most likely fast forward through.
A hilarios but over the top barf-orama. Featuring the disgusting "singing" male rectum (Seriously!). Divine's most infamous and most celebrated John Water's film. It lives up to the title. Divine's famous Dog Fece eating scene delivers that stomach churning goods (If you want to call it that).
Desperate Living:
Water's best film next to Serial Mom (Not included in this set).
A hilarious story about a rich house-wife that is a paranoid. Between an argument with her and her husband. The husband is suddenly killed by the overweight maid's backside. They go on the run to a known criminal sheltering town. That accepts criminals of every breed. They take up in a shaggy hotel.
They then have to deal wih the ex-wrestler queen of the town "MortVille".
Ironically the same actress that appears in Pink Flamingos as the egg loving mother. And most every other Water's film.
The characters have to find a way to claim Mortville for the better. And defeat the Queen in a most hilarious way. One of John Water's Best!
Female Trouble:
When teen Dawn Davenport (Divine) fails to get the pair of "Cha-Cha Heels" as her Christmas gift, She runs away and particapates in a strange
scene in which Divine has sex with himself playing a man. Dawn discovers a beauty salon in which she is offered a job as a model. Even after her face is mutilated by acid thrown on her face from a jealous woman. Dawn continues to become so wrapped up in what is going on that she becomes violent towards people, Most notably towards a crowd on people watching her pointless live variety show.
This leads to being thrown in prison and electricuted in the chair.
Possibly Water's best next to Desperate Living.
Polyester:
Another Water's film that actually works. Francine Fishpaw is just your basic housewife. Her husband is opening an adult theater in their local small-town. The townspeople are afraid that their children will be exposed and then attempt to protest the opening.
Little does Francine know, Her husband is cheating on her with a secret mistress. When she finds this out her husband is constantly trying to embarass her. Meanwhile she becomes a drunk, Her son is a famous "Foot Stomper", Her daughter is pregnant from a local punk, Until she meets a man (Tab Hunter).
When this all goes wrong she has to find a way to regain her family's dignity (If there was any in the first place).
A must see John film! And this film actually imployed a ingenious idea. In the DVD comes a "Odor-Rama" card. Which inables you too scratch and sniff as the numbers appear on the screen, As it did in theaters! Pretty Cool..
Pecker:
A young man named Pecker (Really) is a starting photographer that works in a sandwhich shop. With his cheap camera in hand he begins taking pictures of anything of interest such as: Revealing Shots of his girlfriend (Christina Ricci), Special areas of a stripper, his grandmother and anything else. When he puts on a little art show of his photos at his work, He gets a surprise visit from an art agent. Who shows interest in his work. He becomes an overnight sensation, And praised by critics alike. When his constant glamour and glory over-shadows his personal life, he must choose between fame or family.
A hilarious an excellent film. One of John Waters best and most tame films compared to others. And also one of Edward Furlong's finest roles.
Hairspray:
Divine's last role in film before he had a heart attack in his sleep, In this John Water's decides to make a different approach. He does a family movie, Of cours he adds his own touch but it is a very mild film.
This film revolves around Tracy Turnblad, A young overweight teen who is a big fan of a local teen program called "The Corny Collin's Show". When she decides to audition for the show, She is paraded with hate and stuck-up teens. When she becomes a surprising hit, The tables are turned as she is the highest rated contestant.
This film has to do with African American rights and the right to have any race appear on the show. This film acts as a message to younger audiences, A message of equality in some aspects. A remake of this has recentley come out. It is mediocre compared to the original.
All in all a good film!
A Dirty Shame:
A modern themed Water's film that revolves around the power of sexual desire. When a sexual healer of sorts (Johnny Knoxville) is discovered by Sylvia Stickles (Tracy Ullman) her urges are awaknened and she desires for much more than her husband can give her. She shares her urges with her daughter "Ursula Udders" (Selma Blair) who happens to be an adult film actress. Her and her daughter can switch from normal to sexual animal in a simple hit on the head. Will she break or accept the spell?
A funny but odd John Waters film. Very diffrent. Good and worth watching.
Bonus Disc:
This disc includes video and audio interviews from Divine, John Water and people involved with him. The menus are sectioned by each film. Everything a Water's fan want! December 26, 2007
