Valdez, Alaska is a town famous for disaster. In the 1960’s a huge earthquake destroyed the town and in the 1980s as oil spill put Valdez in the headlines once again. Another disaster happened in Valdez that never received any headlines. In the boom days of Alaska a miner was carrying his gold into Valdez when a huge blizzard hit. He struggled to make it to town but the weather overcame him and he fell into a giant glacier. Glaciers are never safe places to be... but this was a treasure story that Joanna Skye could not turn down. Joanna talks with a local historian who knows all about the lost treasure and sets Joanna in the right direction. In this episode, Joanna stops at the dog pound and borrows a dog named Rudy for her trek to the glacier. Joanna also rides a dogsled and hikes into the most desolate and foreboding land she has ever seen. Keeping survival her priority she goes into a place that even most treasure hunters would never venture.
