For amusement consider the previous reviews of this "near perfect" classic. One reviewer has done his home work....the other sadly, not!! Our cultural history is determined by COOL TYPES...whose memory includes the last thirty or less years and then a complete BLANK!!! "Chitty Chitty Bang! Bang!!" Whaaattt? How about the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons???? Captain Midnight and Icabod Mudd!!!? Ivan Shark and his daughter Fury?? Buck Rogers?? Airboy and Birdie???!!! The Blackhawks? The Flying Tigers???? Contrary to the impression of the actor in the Purple Rose of Cairo...our personal memories do not become the Script of the Whole World!!! There is something called Research to Fill in the Blank!!! The film had nothing to do with Jurassic Park (only in the restricted mind does the mention of DNA automatically suggest Jurassic Park.) or Star Wars or anything of the type!!! The film only departed from Classic Status by the banter of the actors designed to make certain the audience knew, "We're not taking this too seriously" (When you are cool, "The World Bores You!!")...destracting the audience from the action and the heroic pursuit of a goal, as Bugs Bunny would say, "Without expectation of recompense neither!!!" Gad! And, I might add, "Popular music did not begin with the Beatles" (in case anyone was wondering...). The film is a homage to the Great Heroes of the 1930's, 40's, and before!!! Did I mention Doc. Savage??? One word describes the whole feel of the film (with the exception noted) and that is Beautiful!!

It's in black and white but it's enjoyable movie. The plot is interesting. There are some suspenseful moments. The acting is engaging.
It's absolutely worth watching.

June 1, 2008A pretty good high adventure flick. Not too complicated a plot, and of course, you have to suspend disbelief with some of it, but the action moves right along, and the acting is pretty well done. It has shades of "Romancing the Stone" or any of the Indiana Jones movies. Some of the scenery is quite impressive, and I particularly like the Art Deco feel they put to the whole production. I'd watch it again.

This disk did not play in my 360 player. The replacement that was sent also was not read. Are there others that do not work in thr 360 player? Really disappointed because i would have enjoyed this film in HD.
