Average user review:Don't know how I missed this movie when it came out. A very good movie, that the whole family can enjoy. Based on a true story of the rocket boy who was in the news lately commenting on the military's ability to shoot down a falling satellite. April 17, 2008
Wonderful movie!
This is one of the best movies of all times...especially if you are a teacher! Wow! Very heartwarming! March 12, 2008
October Sky
I thought the movie was excellent, I saw it at the movie's and was very happy when I found I could purchase it at amazon. I would advise everyone to purchase it. March 6, 2008
A WORTHY historical dramatic film
I love movies about space, natural disaster, etc. Science and technology fascinate me even though my grasp of such things is minimal.
After seeing Apollo 13 and Armageddon - this was an excellent "fill in" movie - it gives you the "how the" space race, rocket technology, came to be.
I really enjoy watching the three movies "in order". October Sky, Apollo 13 and then Armageddon. I don't know why I just do!

Also an excellent business case study!
Don't dismiss this a just another family movie, consider it also a professional development film for adults! As a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Quality 'Lean 6-Sigma Black Belt', I was very pleased to see how instructors effectively use this film to reinforce the concepts of project management and quality improvement cycles. Course attendees are always so taken with the few clips they view that they all end-up adding it to their "to buy" lists. February 23, 2008
