Foul Play (1978)

Not short on murder, mayhem, or any other screwball '70s conventions, Foul Play is a wonderful vehicle for Goldie Hawn. She plays Gloria, a librarian "ready to take a chance again," who ends up the target of an assassination ring. Chevy Chase, fresh off of Saturday Night Live, does the closest thing to real acting he would ever achieve (okay, maybe Fletch) as Tony, the cop assigned to protect Gloria. Dudley Moore made an indelible impression on American audiences as Stanley Tibbets, a surprisingly kinky symphony conductor. But it's the quirky things that make this film: the grandmothers playing Scrabble with expletives, Burgess Meredith's snake Esme, the old Japanese couple in the back of the careening limo. All's fun in Foul Play

Foul Play is good laugh with some suspense and fair bit of Fun.
Chevy Chase' first role and it cemented his career. Possibly a bit dated but every bit enjoyable. Dudley Moore is hilarious and the Villians are all suitably sinister. Watch for the Martial Arts fight with Burgess Meredith and Rachel Roberts (she's one tough mumma).
Oh and Goldie is as cute as always !! April 28, 2008

Lookout for the Elf, "....I mean "Beware the Midgets."... I mean DWARF.

I never get tired of this film, Chevy Chase should have done more films than this instaed of all of those Vacation Sequels. I still laugh at the scenes with Billy Barty (TRUE TRUE), and the car scene (KOJAK....BANG BANG). definitly worth it. March 27, 2008

Imagine if Alfred Hitchcock had a Monty Pythonesque Dream

For me this is absolutely one of the most entertaining American comedy films I've seen. It's just wonderful, every time I watch it.

I could blab on and on about favorite scenes, quotes, or little quirky touches, but the bottom line is that if you've never seen this lesser-known treat, you owe it to yourself. January 13, 2008

Great movie

I just love this movie, ever since i saw it over ten years ago. In my opinion is this Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase's best movie together. December 11, 2007

Muther........ with a laugh

Well, well Goldie you were fabulous back then as now and Chevy, what a hunk. The story is a bit silly and the car chase to the opera rather long winded, however overall the film is pure "Who Dunnit" entertainment. If you want to just make some popcorn and relax for the two hours this is the movie to see. Being a scrabble player I particularly enjoyed the two senior citizens creating a rather interesting word on the scrabble board as Goldie hangs on the edge of the stairwell in the rain.
I also enjoyed the fact that it was a full screen version.
The quality is good and of course the soundtrack includes a number of lovely old Barry Manilow favourites. All in all a good entetainment package.
