About Depeche Mode - Devotional

First time on DVD! Filmed on Depeche Mode’s triumphant tour in 1993, DEVOTIONAL showcases the band at its most raw and energetic, and the rock star antics of captivating lead singer, Dave Gahan. The two-level stage set, video images, and film projections were conceived by top rock photographer Anton Corbijn and lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe. Drawing heavily from the Songs Of Faith And Deviotion album, the tour featured such Depeche classics as Walking In My Shoes, Behind The Wheel, Personal Jesus, and Enjoy The Silence.

rating: 2 QuoteJust Okay, NOT the best DVD of DMQuote
I am a big fan of depeche mode and i love their music. I also respect anton corbin and his work. BUT. This video is not the best I have ever seen. Yes, the stage was well designed and the backdrop tv screens were very creative. But this video was not that exciting because it was too long and they showed the crowd way too much. And there wasnt enough of dm being interviewed.
I have the other two depeche mode dvds called "DM the Videos 86>98" and "depeche mode-One night in Paris" and they are both really exciting and well done. July 16, 2008

I recently upgraded from the VHS version of this film. Definitely worth it. As others have stated, this is Depeche Mode at their absolute peak.

I was with them from the beginning, I saw them in the company of maybe 50 other people in Philadelphia at a tiny bar in 1982. This was way before Dave emerged from his shell. After their first encore I asked Dave to play See You, he told me they couldn't rewind the tape (the tape machine supplying drums at that time).

The visuals -and sound- on this DVD are some of the best for a non-digital transfer. Awesome. May 24, 2008

I don't own any DM albums, but I do like their music. This concert DVD was interesting to watch a couple times - the visuals are intriguing. But the music performed live isn't complex enough to make me want to listen again and again. The singer looks high on E, and lets the crowd sing for him way too much. It's worth watching as a rental, but save your money. September 14, 2007

Devotional is the dvd that started my collection. This is the most mystical and the most sensual of all the albums, and this aura comes through so well on the dvd. I have SOFAD permanently installed in my cd player, and on the last note of 'Higher Love' I turn the stereo off-- nothing is worthy enough to follow! I have been a devoted fan since '81... for me, there has never been any other music that can compare.
My first concert was the 'Exciter' tour... which I found to be as electrifying and perfectly performed as any other! It was at the Gorge in Washington State... perhaps that makes a difference?! We have been to every other local concert, including Dave Gahan's 'Paper Monsters' in Seattle. And by 'we', I mean three generations who 'just can't get enough'! It is SO great to have Grampa dancing and clapping along with granddaughter! We are ecstatic that another tour is planned!
People who talk about DM in the past tense amuse me... check out the size of the crowds in any of their videos, and you'll know that Depeche Mode is still here, still vital, and still producing the most incredible music and performances. And the true believers will always be there to support and enjoy them. July 25, 2007
