Bernard Slade's smart, funny, and touching play about an adulterous couple who meet one weekend a year for 26 years is nicely adapted for the screen by Robert Mulligan (To Kill a Mockingbird) in this 1978 film. The two-person story stars Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn, both of whom are outstanding at conveying a rainbow of emotions over a quarter-century as life gives and takes away, and the world convulses with change. This is one movie you need to see at least once in your life! Beautiful story, unforgettable lines and haunting music. Best movie ever!
August 31, 2008I watch this as a teenager and now as an older adult I still enjoy it. This movie has such a fun, sad story.
July 26, 2008this is simply the best movie of all time. I had to order another copy since I had worn out my original from watching it to often.
May 4, 2008We went to Mendocino for our honeymoon and everyone told us to watch this movie. While a movie about cheating on your spouse doesn't seem like a great idea and there really wasn't that much of the town shown in the movie it was still a really good movie.
April 25, 2008An excellent motion picture that shows not only that it's possible to love more than one person at a time, but also how people grow and change their values and perspectives over time. Buy it. You'll like it.
