The Rundown (2003)

A great action flick

In this great movie the Rock plays Beck, a so called "retriever" for a loan shark. Beck dreams to run his own 5-star restraurant and leave this life behind him. However the boss gives one final job, bring back his son Travis (Seann William Scott). Travis not only doesn't want to go home, but bad guy Hatcher (The hilarious Christopher Walken) won't let hime go until Travis finds a mythical golden idol for him were only Travis knows where it is.

The Rock brings pure awesome to this film and is arguably his best film to date. The movie is wonderfully photographed, and the comic moments flow throughout the film making it enjoyable and entertaining at the same time. Not only are the fights choreographed beautifully, but the action is easy to follow and feels realistic, with none of the choppy editing and shaky photography that has ruined many an action movie. Also Seann William Scott shows that he can act and is hilarious. The Rock always entertains and never disappoints and displays here that he sure can act. I had a blast watching this and so did my family. October 26, 2008

fun no brainer

fun movie that you do not have to think too much about. you can just watch the movie and enjoy it but really not get too invested in the characters or plot. September 27, 2008

Not a showcase HD-DVD, but still good fun

Was hoping that on HD-DVD the lush tropical settings would really look sharp, apparently there's a grain filter so it might put off a few. This does fill my collection of "adventure" movies nicely, not the best acting, nor the best dialog.. but there is a lot of fun to be had. 'The Rock' is a great action star, and Walken is just priceless in anything he does. June 26, 2008

Great Family Go-To Movie

This is our favorite family back-up movie. It doesn't matter if it's 105 degrees or we're stuffed full of turkey, this movie has a little something for everyone. It's fairly family friendly, regarding language etc, no real nudity or sensuality. More importantly for the teen girls and ladies, it has Dwayne Johnson being smart, funny and drop dead gorgeous. For all the guys, there are terrific stunts, mixed martial arts fights. Some wonderful, buddy comedy and Christopher Walken, as always, stealing the show with a silly explanation of the tooth fairy myth to his thugs. A worthwhile investment to keep around the house! oops

I didn't realize that the DVD I ordered was an HD not a regular. Didn't even know that they can only play on HD players. E-mailed the contact we bought it from and he just said sorry. Wouldn't refund or anything. So we haven't watched it since we have nothing to watch it on!! June 8, 2008
