"Concert For George" is the epitomy of how an artist tribute should be executed. This all-star bow to George Harrison captures his very essence. Apart from timeless music, one quickly notices the sterling arrangements, performances and quality of presentation. The DVD is a technical marvel and
could have easily been a 3 disc set had they decided to include "Crackerbox Palace", "This Song", "Blow Away", "Cheer Down", "When We Was Fab" and more of George's Beatle songs. I'd gladly pay another $20.00 for an expanded set!
May 26, 2008This is how good live DVD-CD should sound, Wish George was around to hear it.
March 11, 2008The best tribute i have ever seen. Eric and friends could not have done a better job. The love and respect poured off the screen. Every musician was there for George and his family. The last song by Joe Brown brought a tear to my eye and still does every time i watch it.
December 1, 2007I bought this as a gift but wish I had kept it for myself. One of the best tribute albums to come along.
September 14, 2007I don't know why it took so long for me to figure out he is my favorite Beatle. He lived in the shadow of Lennon and McCartney, but produced some of the Fab Four's most enduring material. After the breakup, he continued to grow both spiritually and creatively, and this concert supplies a rewarding retrospective of his work from Beatle to Wilbury, with Bangladesh in between. For some, the performances of celebrities who honor him (Eric Clapton leads the band) will be reason enough to buy the DVD A Concert for George, but it's George's music that shines through, and it is played with joy, reverance, and an ear for the sound of the original recordings. I liked the concert so much I had to have the CD so I could listen in the car! George may have gone, but he left us an incredible body of work and a son who looks just like him!
