Lewis Black - Unleashed (2003)

Comedy Central's jittery, apoplectic commentator on all things absurd in politics and culture is superb on this disc's collection of four half-hour cable specials and bonus features. Fans and newcomers get a chance to see how much the comic has grown since his delightful 1998 show, in which Black characteristically sputtered this bit of social-scientific criticism: "It's absolutely stupid that we've lost the ozone layer. We've got men, rockets, Saran Wrap--fix it!" Black attacks Bill Clinton for obscuring the meaning of infidelity ("If curling is an Olympic sport, oral sex is adultery!"), Y2K hype, flu shots, America's power elite, Ross Perot ("He's the kid in Deliverance all growed-up!"), and even delivers a "Taxes 101" college lecture ("What would help IRS forms? Verbs!"). Bonus features include Black's "Indecision 2000" inserts--caustic commentary about the last Republican and Democrat conventions--for Jon Stewart's show. smart, funny, insightful

Black is one of the funniest people on the planet, who happens to also make very good social commentary points during his routine. Guaranteed to make you laugh until it hurts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. March 21, 2008

He's has done allot better

Personally I didn't enjoy this one as much as did as "Black on Broadway" or "Red White and Screwed" both of which were "halarious". Not the fact that they are just funny but true to life and quite accurate. He seems to be much funnier at Stand - up comedy then to situation comedy. March 2, 2008

Disappointing

I liked Lewis Black very much when he was on the Daily Show, with his sharp comments about current news items. The humor on this DVD lacks the sharpness and the bite. He seems to always start with weak jokes about the weather, on his DVDs. Sorry I bought this one. October 15, 2007
