About The Land Before Time X - The Great Longneck Migration

Dreams--or "sleep stories," as these talking dinosaurs dub them--inspire Little Foot and his grandparents to begin a journey to see a climactic event in the 10th installment of this consistently high-quality series. Along the way, they discover that other longnecks have been having similar dreams, thus providing the opportunity for guest voices (Bernadette Peters as "Sue" and James Garner as "Pat") and Little Foot's reunion with his long-lost father (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland). In a subplot, Little Foot's other dino friends decide to follow him, but this story really belongs to the young longneck. He gets to view a solar eclipse--and take credit for saving his species--but has to make a decision between traveling with his newfound dad and returning with the grandparents who raised him. It's a tough decision for a little one, but children who have gone through divorce will identify. (Ages 2 to 7) --Kimberly Heinrichs Amazon.com

We gave this to our 4 year old for Christmas.
My son loves the Land Before Time movies but got up several times during this movie. It didn't seem to keep his interest throughout??
I, personally, didn't love the storyline in regards to Littlefoot finding his long lost father, then making the decision to not go with him. At the same time, I wouldn't want him to leave behind his grandpa but it just didn't feel good either way.
So, 3 stars because I feel there are better TLBT choices!

This movie is great! I've always been curious about Littlefoot's dad. Now, I know something about him. This is a tale of acceptance, growth, belonging, and friendship. James Garner is my fave voice talent. Keifer Sutherland I was abiguous about at first, the writing saw him through, however. I'm giving this to my neice and nephew. August 31, 2007

This movie, which was my least favorite, is centered around Littlefoot and all longnecks who go on a quest to answer questions about a mysterious dream they have. All longnecks feel the dream tells them they must arrive somewhere to save the world from something (which I won't spoil). In the end, Littlefoot and the longnecks complete the task they set out to perform. Littlefoot gets a suprise when he meets his long lost father. Littlefoot must make the difficult choice of joining his father and leaving his friends (who follow Littlefoot on his quest) or stay with his friends and grandparents at the Great Valley. I may sound awful saying this, but I liked it better when I thought Little Foot's father had died (like Cera's mother did in the first movie, but it was never spoken of). For one thing even after finding Little Foot he cared more about looking after his herd than his son, that just didn't seem right to me.

Rather than move his herd to the Great Valley the writers just had him go off into the sunset, only to 'visit' later:P.

I know Little Foot is happier with his grandparents but one thing they never say is that they are so old they may die before Little Foot is grown up which would make it all the sadder that his father isn't there...

I guess all and all 'real world issues' do not go well with the LBT world, since male animals leave their mates to raise the young all the time in real life.

But I am a fan of the first movie more than anything.

Even though this is one of the better spin offs it does not come near what the first one was and cheapens Little Foot's mothers death by going so far as to mimic lines from the first movie:P November 13, 2006
