About Oswald - Welcome to Big City
From the beach to the back yard, the blue octopus and his buddies find plenty to learn in the outdoors. On a trip to the shore, Henry the penguin paradoxically doesn't want to get his feathers wet, but rises to the challenge when reckless Daisy needs rescuing. Next, Oswald has the difficult task of judging which of his friends' sand sculptures should win the annual contest. (Two words: Everybody wins!) Back at home, when snails invade Oswald's tomato garden, the accommodating octopus buys new tomato plants to share. But the snails eat those, too. Finally, bird watcher Oswald gets impatient with his impulsive floral friend when she keeps scaring off his targets. But those same qualities come in handy when he needs her to bring him down from the back of a giant Mee-Tah bird. This gentle Nick Jr. series cleverly echoes and resolves many of the issues children face, and features kid-friendly voices from the expected--cartoon veteran Debi Derryberry and The Wonder Years' Fred Savage--as well as the unexpected: Laverne and Shirley's David Lander and early SNL regular Laraine Newman. User Reviews
Average user review:There are so few shows out there that do not bombard small children with too much action, obnoxious noise, inappropriate dialog and constant scene changes. Oswald is a rare find. Cute humor, good stories ... can't miss! With degrees in Child Development, Education, and Psychology, along with a teaching credential, there are at least a handful of people who value my opinion!! Love, love, love, Oswald!
Oswald is, quite simply, the best children's show ever. The characters, the colors, the drawings, and the wonderful music! My kids have just adored this show. Thank you Dan Yaccarino--you have gotten us through bad moods, bouts with teething, and make some 40 something parents laugh, too. July 31, 2006
Missing Oswald
My 2 1/2 yrd old daughter loves Oswald & misses him on Noggin so much so I bought the DVD. Highly recommend it to all Tiny & not so tiny Oswald fans. October 14, 2005
Wish They'd Make More Episodes
I'm so angry with Nckelodeon for hooking my one-year-old on this show, then only creating 16 10-minute episodes. She is obsessed with Oswald, and I have purchased every last thing I could find, but I wish there was more. This video is half of the Oswald episodes, and keeps her occupied for about an hour. Love it!!!! September 29, 2005
Love Oswald
My son loves Oswald and we both could not be more pleased with this release. We get Noggin, but sometimes when we travel we need our Oswald. Oh - did I mention my son is only 10 months old?! He loves it and I think he will all through the pre school years. August 3, 2005
