I think this is a decent romantic comedy with a definite save the planet mentality. You're not bombarded by the romantic part, so can enjoy the witty jokes and actors with good comedic timing. Hugh Grant does a surprisingly good job at being yet another reluctant grown-up who falls in love just as reluctantly. I recommend this movie for chick-flick night every time. October 5, 2008

This seems like a dream match-up. As likeable and engaging as these two stars are, this film suffers from a weak script and direction. It never reaches cruising speed, but just plods along. There is unfunny scene after scene, many with clumsy resolution, the actors just standing there looking uneasy. What should have been a bunch of perfectly written and executed small character roles were mismanaged and presented, none truly having any bearing on the story. This is not an awful film, it can be enjoyed, but sadly it didn't reach it's full potential. October 2, 2008

Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock are great together. Hugh plays a rich guy who considers only the important things, like which tie to wear. Sandra plays an activist who cares about the important things like saving the community center. Thrust together by Hugh's need for a lawyer, and Sandra's being one, her superior talent and ability dovetail perfectly with his need for someone stable and organized. Working together, they find each other indispensible, except for the fact that Hugh is utterly unconcerned with reality, and drives her insane. She gives him 2 weeks notice and helps him 'find' a replacement (who turns out to be young, sexy, intelligent, and attractive) which makes Sandra jealous in her competitive nature. They finally admit that they love each other and there is no one else for them besides each other. Classic lines include during the private flight in his $2 million helicopter around New York: she says: "This is what dreams and alot of money can accomplish. You can use your life for good..." to which he responds "If only I would.."
and
'Like a twisty bobcat pretzel.." ;-)
A classic must-own movie. Both stars are stellar, and a great ending.

Light and fun, airy and pleasant. Would be a good date movie, but I watched it alone and enjoyed it. Didn't think I would when I pulled it out of the bargain bin, but both actors work pretty well off each other and there was surely a chemistry between them (a good hybrid between friendliness and romance). You'll chuckle some. I'm embarrassed to say it, but this is a well enough made movie and entertaining in an easy way. April 13, 2008

I bought this Film for the Sandra Bullock appeal.Any other addition is a plus. The relationship with Hugh Grant works because of Sandra's Charisma. It helps that the supporting actors are top notch. And The work with the
Director/writer in Ms Congeniality is spoken of in negative terms here in reviews, well, I loved Ms Congeniality, so that connection was and is a plus for me. I enjoyed the film from start to finish, and the commentary shows where Hugh did some "ad lib" work, and it is quite fun.The bottom line here is that if you like Sandra, then you will like thye film, if not then any excuse to bag the film will do. So, Pick a film you like and review that one.
The DVD is quite good, the Bonus elements provide great extra materials that add to the film and has a special extra that when accessed shows some behind the scenes extras( And the best ones come on an alternate path where a Heart shows up, and it shows "bloopers" and a bunch of fun material that adds to the enjoyment of the film after several views...but, I could re-view without this feature anyway :-). Anyways, as a variation on one of my favorite saying "Any Sandra is Good Sandra"...
ENJOY April 12, 2008
