Although I enjoyed parts of this film, I do not believe that the NRA or the honest establishments who provide firearms or the honest Americans who choose to defend themselves (against these animals who have no regard for life and no regard for humanity) are the problem or the issue. Michael Moore through his documentary "Bowling for Columbine" apparently has a different opinion. Basically the point of this movie is to articulate that: people don't kill people, guns kill people. It's not a new way of thinking. But perhaps it's more marketable or more typical since over the last 10 years we have seen an honest to goodness war on decent Americans. What is the cause of this? And, what is the solution? What are some options for Americans? This documentary does not provide any answers, unfortunately. Instead, MM unilaterally attacks those who choose to bear arms, those who have not broken any laws and those who have only been good, decent people. The interview with Marilyn Manson was foolish and pathetic at best. How is any pop singer an expert on anything; especially gun control? I also found the interview with Mr. Charleton Heston (may he rest in peace) interesting, although sad. Because this video takes the opinion that any member of the NRA is doing something surreptitious. I could never allow a gun in my home, but I believe that all responsible Americans who follow the law and who choose to protect themselves and their family have every single right to own one. This is our county just as much as the criminals (maybe more so.) I say, fight the real enemy!

People keep paying for movies made by a person who has wasted his "talent" on partial truths to flat out lies. What type of a person would waste his life on lies? Oh, yeah...a person who wants to make money off of ignorant people(I say this with no intentions to insult).
It is ashame that people, like Mr. Moore, are not held accountable for their deceit. Well, eventually they will be. I actually feel sorry for him and for those who believe that he is telling them the truth.
People like Mr. Moore actually hold back the truth and belittle and attack those who hold truth and honor as being important.
May 11, 2008I'm suprised on how easy it is to buy a weapon in the United States. The part the shocked me the most is when he goes to a Michigan bank, which is as well a licensed weapon dealer, where he gets a free gun for putting some money into a Certificate of Deposit. Or when he takes the two kids who survived the shooting in Columbine to make a point at k-mart.
This documentary shows more than just how easy it is to own firearms. It shows that we are in a country full of violence. That there are other country out there like Canada, that also have a lot of families that own guns, but has less violence than we do.
April 10, 2008 | | A movie that makes you think | |
I saw this movie for the second time in my college English class. But for some reason, I was more interested and drawn to it the second time around. While I was watching the film, I thought that it was very interesting and brought up a lot of real, important issues that we Americans encounter in our everyday lives. It was sad, but yet amusing how he convinced Walmart headquarters to ban the sales of gun ammunition in stores. It was impressive how he tried to find every possible reason as to why America has such a high murder rate. Race, poverty, violence in music and video games, violence in our history, and even the growth and production of hand guns. None of these could lead to the reason behind his questioning. What I found most interesting about this film was when he went to Canada. He walked up to a few houses and saw how the natives there do not lock their doors. He was also informed that there was only one murder in the last three years in Canada. Coincidentally, I ran into an acquaintance that used to work in the forensic labs for the Miami Dade Police Department a couple of days after viewing the film. He expressed how he has visited some of the forensic labs in Canada. I was not given much information, but was led to believe that they may not be reporting all of these murders in Canada... there's something to think about. This only made me think more and more about the film, and left me pondering as to why it is that we Americans kill each other. There is still quite a bit left un-answered. I guess I would say that I have mixed reviews about this film. I think that the idea behind the film was a good one, but not sure as to whether or not the information provided was all true.
