'D2: The Mighty Ducks' released in '94 is the second installment in the adventures of Coach Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) and his misfit team of teenage hockey overachievers. After his shot at a professional hockey career is ended by a knee injury Gordon returns to the Mighty Ducks with a new vision of hockey glory. They have been chosen to join Team U.S.A. at the Junior Goodwill Games to be played at the Arrowhead Pond in California. Isn't Disney so predictable. Several outstanding Junior players from across the country are added to the team which adds some uncomfortable situations with the rest of the Ducks, but eventually they unite take on the hockey world like only the Mighty Ducks could.
Emilio Estevez does an admirable job reprising the role of Gordon Bombay and Carsten Norgaard is a terrific bad guy as the unethical Coach Wolf Stansson of Team Iceland.
`D2' has numerous funny moments and the cast is so energetic and enthusiastic you tend to overlook a lot of the obvious faults and inconsistencies in the plot. Little kids will love it, but older teens and adults probably won't make it to the end. Too many silly antics for my taste.
July 7, 2006D2 was the bomb!It was better than the first. After spending time in the off season Coach Bombay(Emilio Estevez)rounds the kids up to get back on the "ice and start" from there. Also a new posse joins the squad and together they become team "USA" and compete against teams all over the world including the seemingly unstoppable Team Iceland.Oh yeah and before I forget another member joins the Team U.S.A/Ducks also-Russ Tyler(played by Kenan Thompson from Kenan & Kel)who was the player with the famous "knuckle puck" hit that usually did some serious damge.Trust me on this one, this is one movie that will have you "quacking" all over the place with laughs.

One year later after the ducks beat the Hawks they and their coach are back this time they are going for a bigger prize to play against other countries around the world to do this they get new players added to the ducks team they are from all around the U.S.A. The only team they have trouble with beating and geating alone with is Iceland their team looks like grown ups. At the championship game the duck wore their old uniforms instead of the red white and blue.
August 21, 2005 | | Excellent film, Horrible DVD! | |
Buena Vista (the company that releases Disney films on DVD) chose to not release anamorphic DVDs when they first came to DVD, so none of these films are anamorphically enhanced. This means, if you have a widescreen television, you will have black bars on all four sides of the picture. Also, these discs are absolutely barebones, only featuring a Dolby 2.0 soundtrack and a 1.85:1 widescreen presentation. Where are the extras?! I don't know about you guys, but I am a Mighty Duck fan who is disappointed by the DVD release of this film.
June 29, 2005I thought that this sequel was very good. It was interesting to see the Duck get new members from different parts of the country. I liked it that the Ducks (team USA) got to play against teams from around the world in the Junior Goodwill Games. It was interesting that Iceland was like the Hawks in this movie- only tougher. At the end of the movie, when the Ducks were at the campfire, that they sang 'We are the Champians.' All in all, I thought it was a great movie.
