This is fairly good for a child just introduced to phonics and letter blending. It uses the blended letter sounds, as well as taking away a letter and adding a different letter in order to make a new word. We have only watched it once thus far; so, my review is not the greatest, sorry. BTW - I loved Sesame Street as a child and now my 5-year-old loves it also:-) March 1, 2008

My 20 mth. old LOVES this whole video - but there is this segment where these 3 bald muppets, and this one awesome hairy muppet do a song... "cat, fat, hat, mat!!" I don't think I've EVER heard my son laugh so hard!! We replay it for him like 4 times in a row before we continue on. As all the Sesame products, this one is well done and has its special wonderful memorable moments. I like it too! May 17, 2007

We own quite a few DVDs, my son loves this one and the Elmo 123 count with me. Both are truly fantastic. He can watch it every day and he laughs even, he is only 9 months. February 9, 2007

This DVD is often amusing, but completely unsuitable for children learning to read. Words are all but incomprehensible in many of the songs, and some charaters don't articulate the words as well as you would expect (don't get me started on Elmo). It's also too long. May 17, 2005

We've owned this DVD for about a year now and for some reason, my 2 year old twins have never been and still are not interested in it. They LOVE Ernie & Bert, but it just doesn't hold their interest. Still, we keep trying to reintroduce it. Perhaps it is specific to them, but they do absolutely love "Learning About Letters" and "The Best of Elmo". I would check those out if you are looking for excellent Sesame Street videos. Both of them have a lot of songs, which holds the interest of most toddlers. Perhaps my girls will love the Word Play video in 6 months or a year. We'll keep trying, but it just isn't a hit, for some reason. It is the only video we own that they have no interest in. That being said, Sesame Street is one of the best programs for little ones, so you might want to still give it a try. Looks like it is a hit with a lot of others out there. March 14, 2005
