I would say Minor earth is the best album of this decade by anyone, but this is mostly uninspired. It's got one instant classic, the title song. Forever not yours is also a song I like to listen to each time, along with Dragonfly. But beyond that, there's nothing that is truly special. Some of the songs here like Afternoon high, Oranges, There's a reason, Did anyone approach you, sound like they were searching for ideas to strike them, but never hit upon anything good. a-ha normally have a beautifully "depressed" quality to their music but here it is "bored." A-Ha can do no wrong with this album. The title track is full and rich. It has that feel of an older favorite track "Hunting High and Low", but with grander maturity. "Forever Not Yours" is radio worthy pop, and the cd's ballad "Turn the Lights Down" is just right with the addition of a female touch. The most experimental track, for me at least, is "Oranges On Appletrees". It took me a number of listens to grasp what they were going for. Lifelines is a great album that leads nicely to Analogue showcasing Morten's, Pal's, and Mag's musical evolvement. I highly recommend this cd! August 21, 2008

I have to say that I enjoyed each track on this album. And yes I even like "Oranges on Appletrees" On this CD Mortan, Paul, and Magne seem to be having alot more fun, than on Minor Earth/Major Sky. I think on MEMS they were getting the feel of playing togather again with alot of outside influence creaping in. But this album seems to be more a-ha'ish. May 7, 2008

This CD was on repeat play in my house yesterday. I am immensely please that I bought it, based on several reviews listed here.

Each melody stands on it's own merit, one different from the other but creating an interesting body of work. Morten's voice melds the different melodies into one beautiful cohesive listening experience.

A-Ha truly has evolved in their music, and this is much more mature and serious than their earlier works. Of the 15 songs on the CD, 4 are written by Magne Furuholmen, 5 are collaborations by Furuholmen/Harket and the other 6 songs are by Waaktkaar-Savoy.

After several listen-throughs I admit to liking every melody on this CD. However some of the songs were immediate stand-outs: "Lifelines", "You Wanted More", "Forever Not Yours", "Time and Again", "Did Anyone Approach You", "Turn the Lights Down" (a duett with Anneli Drecker, whose vocals are also featured on "Lifelines"), "Cannot Hide" and "White Canvas". The lyrics to the this last one really spoke to me, and the last two lines in the song stay with me long after I've heard it: "stories are painted in the lines of your face". June 27, 2007

I had read reviews saying that Lifelines was one of the best A-ha albums ever, but I thought Minor Earth Major Sky was....that was until I got Lifelines for Xmas from my hubby. Every time I'm in the car I have it playing. My 3 1/2 year old even sings along. Truly an amazing piece of work. January 19, 2007
