The Monkey's Mask (2000)

Pretty much a DUD!!!

This movie was pretty boring--not much on plot--it skipped around alot and left me confused at times. The acting was ok but not inspiring. Rent this and make up your own mind before purchasing it. I just did not like this one. June 7, 2008

lame movie, beautiful bodies

The dialogue is contrived; the plot is nearly inexplicable and definitely irrelevant, but I gotta say - it's worth the price of admission to finally see that hot Amish in the all-together. Ms. McGillis looks fantastic, and, uh...gets right in there! Plus, oddly, this is the first time I've ever had the thought "Wow. Kelly McGillis can really act!" Worth a rent, but you're lonely if you're going to buy this thing. April 5, 2008

The yawn factor.

Far too much is made of this film simply because the main characters in it are lesbian. Rather than simply look at that if you just watch this film as an erotic thriller similar to Basic Instincts then you have a serious case of the yawn factor.

The film simply does not get going, for a suspense thriller you need well, suspense! The characters are just so dull you get the impression even the actresses are bored and are just praying for the director to say "Cut" so then can go home. The film just drifts along at a walking pace and no sorry, just because the main characters are lesbian is not going to convince me the film is any good.

A poor film that if you can sit through to the end you will be probably kicking yourself you just wasted and hour and a bit of your life when you could have been watching paint dry. February 23, 2008

Boring Movie

The Monkey's Mask is about a private detective who is searching for a missing girl. But the movie was so boring that I gave up watching it after 30 minutes. The movie drags on and doesn't seem to have any real suspense and doesn't have any action. February 16, 2008

This had it all!!!

I'm in the photo and film field and I love the way this movie is shot. The way it's filmed is just so beautiful and sexy. The main char's are all charming, beautiful, and clever, with a great deal of verity and depth. The plot is fast paced and hot, full of twist and turns, and you never figure anything out until the last second. This is one of my favorite rainy day movies and any movie you can watch again and again is a great movie. Love this film and the fact that the main character is sexy ten times over doesn't hurt at all. Great film!!! October 11, 2007
