Entrapment (1999)

Sean Connery plays a master thief thought to be long retired, while Katherine Zeta-Jones is his foil, a hotshot insurance investigator assigned to his case. They both have a little something to hold over each other's heads, until it turns out that Zeta-Jones is a professional art thief herself and is playing on both sides of the fence. At first they eye each other with mutual distrust until they team up for a job, which goes off without a hitch. Inevitably their prickly relationship begins to thaw somewhat, and the two become attracted to each other as they plan out the massive Y2K bank scam that is the movie's climax (complete with sequel-ready ending). Entrapment plays somewhat like a '70s caper movie revamped for the gadget-happy high-tech '90s. The plot takes a few too many labored twists and turns, and the chemistry between the two leads is nearly nonexistent, though both carry on gamely in their parts. On the other hand, there is some genuine suspense in many scenes as they go about their business, dripping with whiz-bang burglary devices. Zeta-Jones, of course, is drop-dead gorgeous, and Connery is as reliable as always in his role. The fairly flat editing and direction tends to drag the film down somewhat, but fans of caper movies, high-tech thrillers, and the two leads should find plenty to like in this film. --Jerry Renshaw Amazon.com

Entrapment [Blu-ray]

I like Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, she looked great in this film before having kids. This is a nerve-racking game of cat and mouse game with a great cast of supporting actors. I read the Blu-Ray reviews and once Amzon had a good sale I picked in up for less than I paid for the DVD. The picture quality is very good and sound isn't bad either. It a nice film, good action, and they don't have to blow everything in the world up to may it interesting. If you liked the movie, find a sale on Amazon and add it to you Blu-Ray collection. It will not be a master blu-ray to show off to your friends, but it's of better quality that a lot of other releases. October 4, 2008

DVD verison on a Blu-ray disc

I bought several movies on Blu-ray. Video on this Blu-ray disc looks as if we are watching a dvd. Not worth buying this Blu-ray version. (I bought here at Amazon). Movie is good without any doubts. October 1, 2008

Just Silly

I'm sure men will enjoy this movie more than women, if for no other reason than they get to see Catherine Zeta Jones doing some intricate acrobats, meant to display her perfect body. But other than the fact that Jones and Connery are two very attractive people, who have great chemistry together (despite the age difference), Entrapment has very little to offer. It's a caper that ridiculously turns into a bad romantic comedy, and in the end it is as unsatisfactory as it is silly. January 10, 2008

May-Winter Romance, Nail-biting Suspense, Great Talents

I have seen this film several times and never tire of it. Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones have great chemistry, which develops while she (a seductive insurance investigator) attempts to entrap Connery, a master thief. Instead the two join forces for a hair-raising, multibillion dollar heist at the new millenium. December 18, 2007

Well .. .what a great film!

Dr Blockbuster was lucky. Sir Sean brought the UK premiere of this film to The Odeon in Edinburgh in 1999 and he was accompanied by Catherine Zeta Jones.
