Ghosts and gags collide in this witches brew of laughs with Bob Hope as a Manhattan radio commentator who finds himself marooned on an island of the walking dead!Larry Lawrence (Hope) sought in connection with a murder he did not commit eludes New York police by hiding in a steamer trunk. Soon the trunk (and Larry) are aboard a ship bound for Cuba where the trunk s owner pretty Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard) is sailing to take possession of a recent inheritance: a haunted castle. Sensing that Mary is in danger Larry and his valet Alex (Willie Best) precede her to the island which is inhabited by a ghost a zombie and perhaps even a flesh-and-blood fiend. Average user review:| Hope in his prime and Goddard in her underthings. |
Bob Hope is in his prime here and has his magic going.
There are a few spots of race humor. Unfortunate, but not enough to ruin a funny movie.
You get to see Paulette Goddard in underwear and high heels. February 28, 2008

| One of Bob Hope's best |
and lovely Paulette Goddard.
Bob Hope gets mixed up with the mob, then meets
Paulette Goddard (who has meanwhile inherited
a haunted castle in Cuba). Bob Hope escapes the cops
from the hotel in New York via Paulette's steamer trunk.
They see the sights in Cuba; and
decide to check out the castle themselves. They
run into zombies, murder, and assorted creepiness.
Also, the B/W print is beautiful on the DVD.
