Bond - Live at the Royal Albert Hall (2001)

Filmed at their Royal Albert Hall debut gig in September 2000, Bond Live is a slick showcase for four classically trained, ex-session musicians and their fusion of string quartet and rock music. Whatever the hype (four beautiful women wearing scanty tops and dancing with violins while backed by a five-piece rock combo and a small, rarely seen string section), it has nothing to do with making classical music cool and everything to do with sex. In "Duel," first and second violins Haylie Ecker and Eos trade licks "guitar-hero" style, and most of the tracks are new instrumentals written for the album Born, though "The 1812" does manage to reduce Tchaikovsky's overture to a five-minute dance number. With rock-show lighting, synthesizers, dance beats, and a finale involving the "James Bond Theme" followed by a Rio-style fiesta for the closing "Victory--Carnival Mix," this is camp, melodramatic, sexy fun. --Gary S. Although I can't place my finger on it, I feel it lacked something for me to give it a five star rating. The concert was entertaining. The ladies are extremely sexy and talented. If you like this style of music or this group, I would still recommend it. September 1, 2008

Pure Energy

Without doubt this is one if the best productions I have ever had the pleasure of watching and listening to. It's one of those you find yourself playing over and over in your head long after it ends. Extremely entertaining and full of energy. It is classified as "classical" but I think it goes much further than that. Some classical compositions are dry, but not this, no way. Very talented, and masters of presentation. You won't waste your money with this DVD. July 4, 2008

An excellent performance

There is a tendency to write of the musicians of bond as fluff because they are provocative in the way they dress.Like most young people these girls are aware of their sexuality but what I hear in the music is professionals who take their music very seriously.I often listen to this DVD at work and when I can't watch the concert I run the program in the background while I have something else on the screen and I enjoy the performance just as much.A definite recommend! I really enjoy this DVD

A couple of years ago, I discovered the DVD "Yanni - Live at the acropolis", a DVD that I really enjoyed. I decided to do a google search on the terms "as good as Yannni", and found Bond. While I do not think that they are the equal of Yanni, they are very good in their own right, and very versatile. If you like strings with a little edge, this one meets the bill.

Bond...Brilliant!

Another outstanding DVD production. This one filled with more music, but the lighting for the finale is poor. Great buy! April 6, 2007
